The study summarises the results of experimental examination of velocity sensing capability in a prototype of a magnetorheological damper with power generation (MRD). The device has two main components: an electromagnetic power generator and an MR damper. The study outlines the structure of the device with the main focus on the generator part, and provides results of tests performed under the idle run. The discussion of demonstrates the potentials of MRD action as a velocity-sign sensor and presents key issues which need to be addressed to enable its real life applications.

Catering trailers are small gastronomic points that sell food in unusual, remote locations where access to the power grid is difficult or impossible. Therefore, owners are forced to use a separate energy source to ensure continuity of operation of specialized equipment. The article presents the concept of a photovoltaic installation with an energy storage system in batteries, which is an alternative to traditional combustion generators. On the basis of the adopted assumptions, the daily demand for electricity in the trailer was determined, the elements of the installation were selected and a simple payback time was determined based on investment costs. The environmental aspects were indicated, as well.

There is discussed a history and present day of the company, which has been specialised, initially in the frameworks of the Energopomiar and at present as an independent company included in Energopomiar Group, not only in measurement works concerning the relay systems for generators and power units; its employees actively have taken part in design, production and montage of the most modern relay protection systems.
