Artykuł prezentuje badania własne stosunku studentów warszawskich uczelni do wybranych inicjatyw prospołecznych w perspektywie wiary w sprawiedliwy świat Melvina Lernera i teorii postmaterializmu Rolanda Ingleharta. Rezultaty badania wskazują, że odpowiedzialność osoby - potrzebującej pomocy - za sytuację, w której się znalazła, obniża gotowość do udzielenia jej wsparcia. Poparcie dla inicjatyw proekologicznych okazało się niskie.

The article presents a study concerning the attitudes towards selected prosocial initiatives among the students of various universities in Warsaw in perspective of Melvin Lerner’s just-world fallacy and Roland Inglehart’s postmaterialism theory. The results of the study show that the responsibility for one’s own situation decreases the willingness to support the person in need. The support for proecological initiatives turned out to be low.

Family is an exceedingly important environment of every person’s life and development. It is in it that a person comes to this world, establishes his first relations, learns respect and love. It is also in the family circle that s/he learns sensitivity to other people’s needs, which is specifically expressed in his/her involvement in a voluntary organization. The studies presented in the article prove that a family environment with a democratic atmosphere favors young people’s decisions about getting involved in voluntary work. Their parents’ model and their openness are a help in making responsible decisions about joining an organization, and interest in the work may be a perfect support in difficult of critical situations.

Artykuł dotyczy prospołecznego wymiaru działalności Edmunda Bojanowskiego. Składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej omówione zostały podstawowe pojęcia – działania prospołeczne, postawy prospołeczne i wychowanie prospołeczne. Przyjmując, że prospołeczne to takie działania, które służą innym, w kolejnych częściach dokonana została analiza twórczości i działalności Bojanowskiego pod kątem tego typu aktywności. Kolejno zaprezentowane zostały działania Bojanowskiego na rzecz Ojczyzny, a także najbardziej potrzebujących w obszarze: oświaty, opieki i wychowania oraz działalności charytatywnej. Ostatnia część artykułu prezentuje działania, które podejmował Bojanowski w kierunku kształtowania postaw prospołecznych wśród ochroniarek i dzieci.

The article concerns the pro-social dimension of Edmund Bojanowski’s activity. It consists of three parts. The basic concepts – pro-social activities, pro-social attitudes and pro-social education are discussed in the first. Assuming that pro-social is such an activity that serves others, in the following sections, an analysis of Bojanowski’s work and activity in terms of this type of activity was made. In the begining were presented Bojanowski’s actions for the Homeland, and those most in need in the fields of education, care and charity. The last part of the article presents the actions that Bojanowski made in shaping pro-social attitudes.

Prof. Wojciech Krzysztof Świątkiewicz is, above all, a sociologist of culture and a sociologist of religion. In his theoretical considerations and empirical research, he also took up important issues within the framework of the sociology of morality. In these considerations, we will discuss the following issues in this field: the sociology of the Decalogue, the sociology of pro-social attitudes of young people and adults, and the sociology of morality in marriage and family life. In Poland, many sociologists of religion in their empirical research take morality as an important dimension (dimension) of religiosity. One of them is also Professor Świątkiewicz, who combines both sociological perspectives in his empirical research.

Prof. Wojciech Krzysztof Świątkiewicz jest przede wszystkim socjologiem kultury i socjologiem religii. W swoich rozważaniach teoretycznych i w badaniach empirycznych podejmował także ważne zagadnienia mieszczące się w ramach socjologii moralności. W niniejszym artykule zostały omówione z tej dziedziny następujące zagadnienia: socjologia Dekalogu, socjologia postaw prospołecznych młodzieży i osób dorosłych oraz socjologia moralności życia małżeńskiego i rodzinnego. W Polsce wielu socjologów religii w swoich badaniach empirycznych przyjmuje moralność jako ważny wymiar (dymensja) religijności. Do nich należy także i profesor Świątkiewicz, łączący w swoich badaniach empirycznych obydwie perspektywy socjologiczne.
