Every quest for limits of phenomenons, ideas or material things is a very fascinating task. Therefore those limits describe, determine, characterize, differentiate or simply close. This paper refers to only one, presented from subjective point of view, aspect of the question how to define limits of architecture.

With a hope to find the answer to the question what is architecture l have met ca 150 leading architects around the World. Their answers are in following groups. 1. „Everything is architecture" (F. Maki, l.M. Pei, G. Candilis, R.C. Villaneueva). 2. “Architecture is art, it means it produces emotion" (W. Gropius, L. Barragan, S. Fehn, K. Melnikov). This means however that not everyone will have the same reception of this emotion and this means that no common definition of architecture is possible. It means also that beside architecture also no-architecture exists. 3. This no-architecture is seen by W. Dudok and R. Rogers. 4. Some architects didn't answer to the question presenting „their way" to make architecture. In the year 2000 l have collected similar answers of ca 250 leading Polish architects, which l forward to the organizers of this seminar with no comments here. Definition of architecture is possible as kind of „prescription" addressed to everyone, who will decide later looking at the slace what is architecture and what is not.
