Earth orientation prediction has undergone a number of changes over the last few decades in response to changing conditions in the Earth orientation parameter user community. However, considering the recent pace of change, it is likely that the rate at which innovations are introduced into the prediction process will increase. Potential drivers for change are discussed and possible directions for change are outlined.

As is characteristic of every theoretical model, its application necessitates the adoption of appropriate parameters. Adopting incorrect parameters leads to erroneous results. This also concerns the application of the Knothe-Budryk theory of rock mass movement. The complexity of the geological and mining conditions means that the a priori adoption of the appropriate parameters requires analyzing the measured deformation factors. Geodesic measurements are performed for this purpose, which apart from enabling deformation prediction control, also serve to provide a posteriori parameter determination, which is subsequently used to predict the deformation induced by mining exploitation conducted under analogous conditions. The article presents the determination process and results of the following Knothe-Budryk theory parameters: the extraction coefficient (a), the rock mass parameter (tgβ), the offset of the inflection point (p) and the coefficient of influence deviation depending on the inclination of Carboniferous strata (k), based on two examples of exploitation. The examples are characterized by diverse geological and mining conditions. In the first example, the panels exhibit varied shape and dimensions, and are located on two sides of a trough, which has resulted in a deviation of the deformation in two opposite directions. The second example presents an analysis of deformations induced by the exploitation of one longwall located at a great depth of over 1000 m, on a tilted side of a trough and within an area exhibiting a diverse degree of prior mining.

This paper examines the impact of urban discharges on the water quality of the Erenik River in the city of Gjakova, Kosovo which is the most of key factor in developing the tourism. The primary goal of this project-based research was to provide results through water analysis in order to show the impact of urban discharges on the water quality for the tourists coming. The research was carried out by taking water samples at the entrance and exit of the Erenik River, while the measured parameters of the analyses were: temperature, pH value, electrical conductivity, turbidity, permanganates, phosphorus; and chlorides. Due to the conditions, measurements were not performed for: biological and chemical expenditure, dissolved oxygen, and alkalinity of the water. In order to achieve reliable results, the experimental research model was used, applying the techniques and methods of water analysis during the period of November-December 2021. The analyzed water result and the final findings showed that urban wastes affect the water quality, in particular the pollution from the discharges in the river potentiating the condition in which the Erenik River is found.

The neural network tuning procedure applied to reliability analyses of anthrop technical systems, based on judgements of experts - experienced operating practicians. Numerical and linguistic elicitation of the judgements, analyses of the network input and output data correlation and of the AHP method processing deviation are presented. Example of data elicitation and correlation analysis of a reliability arrangement of the seagoing ship propulsion system are included to the article.

W pracy przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę szumów m.cz. i w.cz. tranzystorów bipolarnych. Przeprowadzono badania statystycznej zależności pomiędzy poziomem szumów m.cz. i w.cz. tych tranzystorów. Stwierdzono, że szumy w.cz. zależą od poziomu szumu 1/f.

The short characteristic of l.f. and h.f. noise of bipolar transistors is given in the work. The investigation of statistical dependence between this two kinds of noise was conducted. As a result it was found that h.f. noise are dependent on l.f. 1/f type noise.

Przedstawiono podstawy próbkowania integracyjnego. Podano sposób estymacji współczynników szeregu Fouriera z próbek integracyjnych oparty na metodzie najmniejszych kwadratów. Estymowane wartości pozwalają na wyznaczenie wartości skutecznej badanego sygnału. Opracowano metodę korekcji estymatorów współczynników w której wykorzystywany jest precyzyjny pomiar wartości średniej wyprostowanego sygnału. Wykazano, że pozwala to na znaczną poprawę dokładności wyznaczania wartości skutczenych sygnałów okresowych.

Fundamentals of integrative sampling are presented. Estimation of Fourier coefficients from samples using the method of least squeares is given. These estimates are used in the next step, to estimate the rms value. A method for correction of estimated coefficients based on precise measurement of the signal rectified average value is proposed. It is proved that such procedure increases significantly accuracy of rms estimation.

The article discusses the problem of choosing the optimal frequency of functional tests, taking into account the reliability and law requirements, but also the impact of business aspects in the company. The subject of functional test interval is well described for purposes of the process industry. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the machinery safety functions with low demand mode. This is followed by a presentation of the current business approach, which, in order to achieve industrial excellence, monitor their performance through the appropriate selection of key performance indicators. In addition, companies are increasingly exploring potential risks in the following areas: new challenges in advanced risk management, including the perception of the company’s facilities as a safe workplace insight of customers and business partners. Eliminating potential hazards is increasingly taking into account, especially the impact of human activity and its interaction with machines. The case study has been presented based on the machines used for the production of tire semi-finished products. In this article, the authors propose a solution for selecting the interval of functional tests of safety functions and additional machine protection measures as a compromise to achieve satisfactory results in terms of safety requirements, performance and legal requirements.

Zamieszczono wyniki badań odnośnie do wpływu parametrów cewki i rezystancji obciążenia na charakterystyki amplitudowo-fazowe przetwornika z cewką Rogowskiego. Zbadano możliwość wykorzystania indukcyjności własnej cewki jako członu całkującego sygnału wyjściowego.

The results of the research to substantiate the possibility and feasibility of raising the pneumatic spring suspension system for realization of efficient damping of vibrations of vehicle bodies, which are equipped with such a suspension, are presented. The influence of parameters of system components of the pneumatic spring suspension and gas-thermal and dynamic phenomena in it on the damping factor of vibrations and the development of the amplitudes of the vibrations in laminar and turbulent mode of the air flow through the orifice that connects the air spring and the additional reservoir was revealed. The dependence of the damping coefficient on the cross-section of the throttle orifice and the capacity of the additional reservoir in both modes of the air flow through the throttle was investigated. It was offered to take into account the "active" capacity of the air spring. It was also grounded the influence of natural frequency and density of the air on the damping ratio, which significantly improved the mathematical model that describes vibrations of boogie parts of vehicles on air springs. An example of calculations of the coefficient of damping of the pneumatic spring suspension for the vehicle was given. It is proved that the pneumatic spring suspension allows you to abandon hydraulic or other vibrations dampers completely by proper choosing of its parameters.

Przedstawiono prostą metodę zwiększenia wiarygodności wyniku kontroli stanu obiektu prowadzonej poprzez kanał pomiarowy. Uzyskano to dzięki użyciu wielkości pomocniczej jednorodnej z wielkością mierzoną. Wynik przetwarzania tej wielkości w kanale pomiarowym wykorzystuje się do addytywnej i multiplikatywnej korekcji ustawień progów kontroli służących podejmowaniu decyzji. Pozwala to zmniejszyć wpływ nieidealnej charakterystyki przetwarzania toru pomiarowego. Przedstawiono skuteczność takiej korekcji przy różnym stosunku składników błędu przetwarzania oraz oceniono wpływ błędu tworzenia wielkości pomocniczej.

An auxiliary quantity, homogeneous with the measured one, was proposed to use in testing of the object throw the measurement channel. The result of processing this quantity in the measurement channel was used for the additive and multiplicative adjustments of settings limits of the positive decision range to reduce the impact of imperfect processing characteristics on the measurement control. The valuable effectiveness of the correction for various relations of the processing error components and the effect of relations of the auxiliary quantity components were shown. The effect of errors of forming auxiliary quantity was also estd.

This article is about realization of the laboratory stand used for measuring parameters of LCD displays. The stand together with additional accessories (spectrophotometer and measuring probes) as well as software allow to measure a wide range of parameters (colour gamut, response time, contrast coefficient and its irregularity, luminance of black colour and its irregularity, luminance of white colour and its irregularity, changes of luminance depending on the viewing angle). This paper also show method and results of measurements of differences in contrast ratio and luminance uniformity between particular pieces of the same model of a display screen (research has been carried out on 5 pieces of the same model of a display). The presented results show that the measured value of the viewing angle may significantly differ from the value provided by producers of displays.

Obecnie istnieje tendencja, aby w górniczych obudowach zmechanizowanych dotychczas stosowane media otrzymywane na bazie olejów mineralnych typu HFA-E o stosunkowo dużym stężeniu 3-5% zastępować mediami o niższym stężeniu ograniczonym do około 1%. Jest to podyktowane nieuniknionymi wyciekami w trakcie eksploatacji oraz podczas przerzutów obudowy do następnego wyrobiska ścianowego. W drugiej połowie lat 90. ub.w. zaczęto zastępować koncentraty HFA-E, których bazą był olej mineralny, koncentratami na bazie środków syntetycznych typu HFA-S tworzących ultramikroemulsje.

Praca dotyczy zastosowania sieci neuronowych do oceny interakcji dynamicznej w przypadku przekazywania drgań gruntu od wstrząsów górniczych na fundament budynku. Wpływ parametrów wstrząsów górniczych, takich jak energia wstrząsu i odległość epicentralna, na interakcję dynamiczną podłoże-budynek analizowano w odniesieniu do prędkości i przyśpieszeń drgań. Do kompresji danych doświadczalnych wykorzystano metodę analizy składników głównych (PCA).

The paper deals with an application of neural networks for evaluation of soil-structure interaction in case of the transmission of ground vibrations from mining tremors to building foundation. The influence of mining tremors parameters as mining tremor energy and epicentral distance on the soil-structure interaction effect is discussed in case of velocities and accelerations of vibrations. The experimental data were compressed with the application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA).

The study deals with experimental testing and estimating the modified Dahl model parameters of magnetorheological elasto-mers (MREs) differing in volumetric concentrations of carbonyl iron particles (CIP). The authors present briefly an overview of scientific re-ports relating to MREs research. Next, they describe the structure and magnetic properties of two fabricated MREs, which were investigat-ed using a scanning electron microscope, a magnetometer and a gaussmeter. Then, they reveal the structure of a specially engineered test rig for materials sample examination and present a scenario of experiments. Next, the test results of the material’s mechanical proper-ties conducted in the absence and presence of a magnetic field were discussed. Then, they describe a modified Dahl model of the material followed by parameters estimation and validation procedure. Finally, the authors summarise the test results and outline further research steps.

Increasing production of free radicals in organisms is one of the putative mechanisms by which a extremely low frequency magnetic field (ELF-MF) may affect biological systems. The present study was designated to assess if ELF-MF applied in the magnetotherapy, affects generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in heart tissue and antioxidant capacity of plasma according to its working time. The experiments were performed on 3 groups of animals: group I - control; group II - exposed to 40 Hz, 7 mT, 30 min/day for 14 days (this field is commonly applied in magnetotherapy); group III - exposed to 40 Hz, 7 mT, 60 min/day for 14 days. Control rats were housed in a separate room without exposure to ELF-MF. Immediately after the last exposure, blood was taken from the tail vein and hearts were removed under anesthesia. The effect of the exposure to ELF-MF on oxidative stress was assessed on the basis of the measurements of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), total free sulphydryl groups (-SH groups) and reduced glutathione (GSH) concentrations in heart homogenates. The total antioxidant capacity of plasma was measured using ferric reducing ability method (FRAP). Exposure to ELF-MF (40 Hz, 7 mT, 30 min/day for 2 weeks) did not significantly alter tissue TBARS, H2O2, total free -SH groups, reduced glutathione (GSH) and total antioxidant capacity of plasma. By contrast, ELF-MF with the same frequency and induction but used for 60 min/day for 14 days caused significant increase in TBARS and H2O2 concentration (P<0.01) and decrease in the concentration of GSH (P<0.05) and total free -SH groups in heart homogenates. Moreover, exposure of rats to ELF-MF (40 Hz, 7 mT, 60 min/day for 2 weeks) resulted in the decrease of plasma antioxidant capacity. Our results indicate that effects of ELF-MF on ROS generation in the heart tissue and antioxidant capacity of plasma depend on its working time.
