Wydaje się, że stare powiedzenie: "Historia się powtarza" sprawdza sie również w geotechnice. W połowie XIX wieku fundamenty oparte na palach śrubowych i filarach w systemie Helicar Pier stał się najbardziej popularnym ich rodzajem stosowanym na całym świecie. Dostępność siły roboczej spopularyzowała na pewien czas, inne metody fundamentowania, jednak prostota i efektywnośc technologii pali wkręcanych spowodowała ponowny wzrost zaiteresowania nimi. Od kilkudziesieciu lat pale wkręcane przeżywaja renesans.

It seems that the old saying "history repeats itself" applies to geotechnics as well. In the mid 19th century foundations supported onto screw piles and Helical Piers became the most popular of this type and were applied all over the world. Availability of workforce made other methods of foundation practice popular for a certain period but the simplicity and effectiveness of the screw pile technology resulted in a re-growth of interest in it. For several dozens of years the screw piles have been booming again. Besides, they have been widely applied nearly in each branch of civil engineering industry. The number of applications for foundations supported onto screw piles has increased more than ever. Moreover, some subsequent niche solutions have been still designed and developed.

Przedstawiono rozwiązanie posadowienia budynku na palach oraz wyniki statycznych badań zastosowanych pali. Zaobserwowano, że pale wkręcane charakteryzują się nietypowymi warunkami wykonania oraz specyficzną pracą w gruncie. Do opisu krzywych osiadania zastosowano analizę z wykorzystaniem funkcji transformacyjnych oraz wyników sondowań CPT. Poprawność rozwiązań projektowych została potwierdzona pomiarami geodezyjnymi osiadań budynku.

The example of experience regarding construction founded on full displacement screwed piles in highly layered subsoil near Gdańsk is presented and discussed, together with static load test results of the piles. It is found that full dispfacement strewed piles behave in different way during its installation as well as its regular service than typical piles. For the determination of settlement curve, load-transfer functions formula for piles together with CPT results were applied. The survey measurements performed on the structure during its operational period confirmed correctness of the applied foundation solutions.
