This article discusses the phenomenon of dysfunctionality of states as a premise for the operation of terrorist organizations on their territory. It analyses historical and contemporary causes of state failure, such as the legacy of colonialism, corruption, poverty, and internal ethnic and religious conflicts. It presents various definitions and classifications of dysfunctional states, including the terms "failed state" and "fragile state." The role of terrorist organizations in such states and their ability to create alternative power structures in areas beyond the control of legitimate governments are also discussed. A key factor in the success of these organizations is radical ideology, which enables the takeover and maintenance of control in the territory of a dysfunctional state. The conclusions indicate the necessity of a comprehens.

Artykuł omawia zjawisko dysfunkcyjności państw jako przesłankę dla działalności organizacji terrorystycznych na ich terytorium. Analizuje historyczne i współczesne przyczyny upadku państw, takie jak dziedzictwo kolonializmu, korupcję, biedę oraz wewnętrzne konflikty etniczne i religijne. Przedstawia różne definicje i klasyfikacje państw dysfunkcyjnych, w tym termin „państwo upadłe” i „państwo wrażliwe”. Omówiono również rolę organizacji terrorystycznych w takich państwach oraz ich zdolność do tworzenia alternatywnych struktur władzy na obszarach poza kontrolą legalnych rządów. Kluczowym czynnikiem sukcesu tych organizacji jest radykalna ideologia, która umożliwia przejęcie władzy i utrzymanie kontroli na terytorium państwa dysfunkcyjnego. Wnioski wskazują na konieczność kompleksowego podejścia do problemu upadku państw w kontekście bezpieczeństwa międzynarodowego.

the purpose of the article is to characterize the Ivorian nationalism. In the introduction the mechanisms of the creation of the African nation in the postcolonial era and the European perception of this process are shown. Next, the birth of nationalist ideology in Ivory Coast and the role of the “father of the nation” – Félix Houphouët-Boigny – are characterized. Then, the article focuses on the meaning of the national goods among which cocoa should be recognized. Mismanagement on the cocoa economy was one of the most significant reasons of redefining the national identity (Ivoirity), the outbreak of the civil war and the decaying of the state. Finally, the essay presents the attempts of implementation of the transitional justice and ongoing national reconciliation in Ivory Coast.
