The paper presents the results of studies on stationary gas seepage in coal briquettes of variable porosity. The measurement procedures are presented. Interpretation of the results is based on Darcy's law and two phenomenological formulae. Standard deviation from the plotted line representing the relationship between the real volumetric flow rate, and that derived from the relevant formulae, is taken as the measure of accuracy. In all cases considered here the phenomenological formulae prove to be more adequate for the description of gas seepage processes.
