The paper presents new global characteristics of chemical nonhomogeneity and its distribution direction of alloying elements in the matrix of graphitic cast alloy. The basic properties of these characteristics are described and numerical methods are proposed for their calculation out of a set of empirical data. The results have successfully been applied to samples of nodular cast iron.
The effect of alloying elements, heat treatment, deformation rate and plastic working on mechanical properties of alloys on the matrix of intermetallic FeAl compound vacuum cast to sand moulds. It has been found that the introduction of such elements as Cr, Ni, Ti, Nb or Mn to the alloy has caused only a strengthening without improvement of plasticity. The homogenizing has noticeably improved plasticity. The largest increase in plasticity was caused by hot rolling that has also resulted in substantial grain refining in the FeAl alloy.
