Big Californian cities are university centres with many educational institutions, so more intellectually-oriented visitors will find here inspiration. The past and old traditions are nor forgotten, so both adventure seekers and historians may spend fascinating time not only limited to museums, theatres or cinemas. A substantial group of tourists are participants in international conventions. Everybody is pleased by international cuisine and Californian wine. The Golden State offers landscapes ranging from desserts to hight mountainous ridges and populated cosmopolitancities. Cities and national parks are often the main goal of the visit. The trip organisation is facilitated by the multitude of information, most popular of which is webside access to practical tips. Given the fact that recently the overall income from visitors has been steadily growing, it has had a great impact on the character and economy of California. Although there are slight differences between recent years due to economic fluctuations in the world, the number of international and domestic tourists is high and this tendency will probably be maintained.
The year 2014 saw another edition of the camp of university ministries from Wrocław and Opole, held in Biały Dunajec. The camp featured over 600 participants from 14 university ministries. The main purpose of the camp was to promote the idea of active leisure in the spirit of Christianity and to prepare students for life at the university and university ministries. Among the important forms of achieving the purpose, in addition to religious practices, were leisure activities and mountain tourism. The main research question asked in the paper stems from the need to verify the effectiveness of implementing the camp programme assumptions. The authors applied the diagnostic survey method and carried out an analysis of the available source documents. The article also contains information about the valuable educational initiative addressed to Wrocław students.
