The paper deals with the problems of the use of an object-oriented software in selected jobs of electrical engineering. Basic elements of object-oriented software are characterized, with presentation of feasibility of using the UML-Language and design patterns with the view to improve the quality of the developed software. As an example a solution to the problem of determining the current density distribution in the conductors of rectangular and circular cross-sections was presented, for the case of harmonic excitation. The integral Fredholm equation of the 2nd kind and the collocation method were used for this purpose. In summary, the conclusions were formulated that result from application of the object-oriented programming technology to solving the electrical engineering problems.
