The article is devoted to the changes in the ethos of contemporary Belarusians. It is based on the research of the Belarussian blogosphere. It shows transformations of traditional values and models of behaviour (passivity, calmness, common sense, mutual gender relations, contact installations, etc.) on the example of modern blogs. Values and models are grouped in relation to the cultural-semantic fields defining the ethnic picture of the world: space – chaos, good – bad, male – female, etc. Thus the ethos of the people remains steady despite changes. Yet, the modern heterostatic ethos of a Belarusian blogger differs from the traditional ethos of a Belarusian. The traditional ethos reveals centripetal features, the modern one – centrifugal. It results from a much wider range of possibilities for young people, if not real, then at least virtual. Thus there appear new characteristics of a Belarusian blogger’s ethos: considerable weakening of isolationist tendencies; a central position of Western cultural models, which replace Eastern, i.e. Russian, ones – which is characteristic of the young Internet users society; deprecation of the value of work and overvaluation of free time, which would suggest a hedonist motivation behind thinking and acting, new to Belarus; levelling of gender positions in the Belarusian society.
