The paper presents numerical solution of Reynolds equation, using the finite differences method. The equation describes oil pressure distribution on the surface of a thrust bearing pad under hydrostatic lubrication conditions, while the mating surfaces are not parallel. To model the geometry, the Autodesk Inventor 2008 was used, while the very programming and performing of computing procedures was done with PTC MathCAD 14 software. The presented procedure is included within the mathematic model, allowing determining probability of malfunction of a thrust bearing with pads supported on helical springs, whose technical parameters are random variables.
