In this paper are contains the results of studies concerning the problems associated with increased of hydroxyapatite (HAp) adhesion, manufactured by using Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD) method, to the austenitic steel (AISI 316L) through the coating of carbon interlayer on it. Carbon coating was deposited by Radio Frequency Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapour Deposition (RF PACVD) method. Test results unequivocally showed that the intermediate carbon layer in a determined manner increase the adhesion of hydroxyapatite to the metallic substrate. Obtained results give rise to deal with issues of manufacturing composite bilayer - carbon film/HAp - on ready implants, casted from austenitic cast steel by lost-wax process method as well as in gypsum forms.
