Kościoły obdarzone tytułem bazyliki mniejszej, w założeniu ustawodawcy, mają być przede wszystkim centrum życia liturgicznego i duszpasterskiego, a dla innych kościołów wzorem godnym naśladowania. Dekret Domus ecclesiae Kongregacji ds. Kultu Bożego i Dyscypliny Sakramentów z 9 listopada 1989 r. odnosi się do prawidłowego urządzenia przestrzeń prezbiterium oraz innych miejsc sprawowania liturgii, według zasad odnowy liturgicznej po Soborze Watykańskim II. Dokument nie wskazuje szczegółowych norm liturgicznych, lecz odnosi do zasad prawnych zawartych w księgach liturgicznych. Szczególna uwaga zwrócona jest na ołtarz, ambonę, miejsce przewodniczenia, chrzcielnicę, konfesjonał, miejsce przechowywania Najświętszej Eucharystii. Troska ustawodawcy położona jest na odpowiednio przygotowany i liczebnie zaspokajający celebrację zespół liturgiczny.

Churches with the title of the minor basilica, in the assumption of the legislator, are to be primarily a center of liturgical and pastoral life, and for other churches an example worthy of imitation. The decree Domus ecclesiae of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, dated November 9, 1989, directs one towards appropriate planning out of sanctuaries and different places of liturgy, according to the spirit of liturgical renewal after the Second Vatican Council. The document does not indicate detailed liturgical norms, but refers to the legal principles contained in the liturgical books. Particular attention is paid to the altar, the ambo, the celebrant’s chair, the baptismal font, the confessional, the place for the reservation of the Most Holy Eucharist. The legislator’s concern is placed on the adequately prepared and numerically satisfying celebration of the liturgical team.

Important for this article is to look at the liturgy from the perspective of its celebration. The celebration, i.e. the visible side of the liturgy, so the congregation and its external action (postures, gestures), liturgical space, vestments, paraments and the whole ars celebrandi, is the image of the liturgy invisible to the human eye, yet the image of this reality, which takes place inside the gathered people. The liturgical celebration is first and foremost the image of the cosmic liturgy. Christ, the Church, man, and with him the world, meet in the liturgy. Christ reveals Himself as Head of the Church and Lord of the entire universe. Man becomes a new icon of God, in the image of Christ, and the whole world regains in man the glory of God. All this contains an important message to persons responsible for the ars celebrandi and for the creation of liturgical space.

Istotne dla tego artykułu jest spojrzenie na liturgię z perspektywy jej celebracji. Celebracja bowiem, czyli widzialna strona liturgii, a więc zgromadzenie i jego zewnętrzne działanie (postawy, gesty), przestrzeń liturgiczna, paramenty, jak i cała ars celebrandi jest obrazem liturgii niewidzialnej dla ludzkiego oka, a zarazem obrazem tego, co dokonuje się we wnętrzu zgromadzonych osób. Celebracja liturgiczna jest przede wszystkim obrazem liturgii kosmicznej. Chrystus, Kościół, człowiek, a wraz z nim świat spotykają się liturgii. Chrystus objawia się jako Głowa Kościoła i Pan całego wszechświata. Człowiek staje się na nowo ikoną Boga na wzór Chrystusa i tym, w którym cały świat odzyskuje chwałę Bożą. Wszystko to zawiera ważne przesłanie pod adresem osób odpowiedzialnych za ars celebrandi oraz za tworzenie przestrzeni liturgicznej.
