The article gives a selection of sources showing the consequences of the attempt on the life of Viceroy Berg conducted in Warsaw on 19 September 1863. Apart from the reports in the press of that time it mentions illustrations that are available, analyzes the range of the destruction and shows the official attempts to solve the problem of national mourning. In its final part it tries to interpret the category of “Perfect-fulfillment” that makes the composition and semantics of Chopin’s Piano coherent.
