Since the establishment of the Task Force many operations involving countries in the region have been performed. A multidisciplinary approach was introduced in terms of the operations in order to better utilise financial and personnel resources as well as to improve results of operations. Usually operations have provided useful information (for example on modus operandi). A few of the operations have been conducted specifically with the objective of gathering information – operation General Aviation is one example of this. Operation Early Bird, a bilateral operation between Poland and Germany, was a direct result of the information from operation General Aviation. The Task Force has the potential of making the operations unpredictable to the criminals as far as time, location and geographical area are concerned. However over the years it has not become clear if the Task-Force cooperation is valuable and efficient. In the beginning the mere fact of being able to carry out joint operations in the region, i.e. all countries doing the same thing at the same time, was a very good and important result in itself. The expectations and demands adressed to the co-operation have increased, and now external evaluations is needed. The presented issue is extremely complex due to the specific nature of the activities carried out on BALTCOM platform and its unique position in the international system of cooperation. Article draws the attention to possible benefits from such forms of international cooperation in combating crime.

Task performance in the area of counteraction and removal of contemporary threats results requires a state to use all of its possible sources and resources. Main entities that carry out those tasks are Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and Polish Police. Important areas of Polish Armed Forces and Police activities include tasks in the field of crisis management, security and public order maintenance, as well as country’s defence. An effective task performance in particular areas is highly reliant on the quality of joint operations of the entities. Different legislative acts only slightly define powers to organize joint operations by Armed Forces and Police, however, the rules of such operations are described in detail in the agreements concluded between them. The area of joint operations of Polish Armed Forces and Police which should be of much attention is a good organization of joint training courses and field exercises. Such undertakings would significantly improve the effectiveness of joint operations of the entities, consequently reducing the number of victims and material loss, improving the protection of natural environment and providing the state security at a high level.

Sukces BOL podczas konfliktów zbrojnych spowodował, iż zwrócono szczególną uwagę na lotnictwo bezzałogowe. Wielu taktyków i naukowców zaczęło rozważać użycie BOL nie tylko w misjach rozpoznawczych, ale także w uderzeniowych. Ocenia się, że bezzałogowe aparaty latające ze względu na posiadane właściwości, takie jak: mała skuteczna powierzchnia odbicia energii elektromagnetycznej, niski poziom promieniowania podczerwonego i hałasu, zdolność do skrytego penetrowania strefy taktycznej i inne, mają większe możliwości przetrwania i wykonania zadań.

Number of tactics' experts and scientists started considerations on UAV's deployment not only in reconnaissance missions but in strike missions as well. It's estimated that UAV's - due to the factors like: small effective reflection surface, low level of infrared radiation and low noise, capability to perform hidden penetration and the others, have greater durability and capability to perform successful combat tasks.

Traditional roles of air forces in combat involve the subjugation of air space and the maintaining of superiority / domination in the skies in order to create favourable conditions to conduct successful land and naval operations. They are, thus, a component supporting other forces in joint military operations. Nowadays, air forces sometimes take the role of the dominant force (a component supported by other forces) and then the joint operations of armed forces are conducted in a way (as called in the article) of dominance from the air. This allows, especially in the so-called asymmetric conflicts, to obtain the military and political goals of the war without land or naval invasion. This is a new phenomenon in the Art of War, which the author of the article tries to identify, describe and systematise. To make waging a war through dominance from the air possible, airforces must have absolute freedom to use the air space in the whole area of a conflict and in the whole territory of an opponent. The current terminology related to dominance (superiority / domination) in the air and the theory of war in the air does not provide (describe) such a situation. In this article, the views in this respect, which were in force in NATO and the Warsaw Pact and are still in force in the US Armed Forces, NATO and the Russian Federation, are critically evaluated and a new terminology taxonomy for dominance in the air is suggested.
