The purpose of the research was to select the most and the least attractive clones and cultivars of short rotation willow as a feed for a allied beetle (Phratora vulgatissima). The allied beetle is a pest which dominates willow plantations in Wielkopolska. The research was carried out on clone 1033 and four Swedish cultivars: Inger, Karin, Thornhild and Tora. Varied nutritional attractiveness of the various clones and cultivars was determined. A widespread on plantations clone 1033 was the most often attacked one. Karin was a cultivar with the smallest amount of a leaf blade damage. The size and the morphological structure of leaves did not affect nutritional attractiveness for a allied beetle.
The highest species diversity of willow beetles Phratora (Col., Chrysomelidae) was found on selected sites of willows growing on banks of rivers (Salicetum triandro-viminalis Lohm.). On shortrotation coppice willows only one species Phratora vulgatissima was present. This species belongs to the most dangerous pests occurring on Salix viminalis plantations in south-eastern Poland.
