In this text I try to present formal and functional picture of the preposition ‘vo’ in the Macedonian dialects. Also, I show the geographic distribution of the preposition ‘u’ (with the meaning at, beside). This helps to see how the prepositions ‘vo’ and ‘u’ are spread over the Macedonian dialectal territory, and also to see their formal and functional distribution. The prepositions ‘vo’ and ‘u’ are among the differential features that divide the western dialectal complex from southeastern dialectal complex. The two maps show that borders of their territories mainly correspond with the dialectal borders of two dialectal complexes. Regarding their functional fields – in the frames of the spatial relations (static vs. dynamic) both forms cover same fields. Thus, regarding static relation, both ‘vo’ (western complex) and ‘u’ (southeastern and northern complex) are used as markers of the position of the localized object regarding the localizer, i.e. the situations where a localized object takes part of the space determined by the localizer. Regarding the dynamic relation, we can see the same results, i.e. both ‘vo’ and ‘u’ are used as markers of the adlative relation (goal) which is the approximation of the localized object to the inside or inside borders of the localizer.

The subject of analysis in this paper is protoslavic verbal root *met‑which formal and semantic development can be traced from a very old period. The research is based on anthropocentric-spatial language theory which helps to analyze how the meaning embedded in some verbal roots representing basic human positions and movements can transfer and rise through evolution of the conceptualization (of the material and mental world). The author analyzes the derivativesof the protoslavic verbal root *met‑with embedded semantic components (move in all directions, throw…) and how the formal verbal and nominal derivatives carry this semantic information through language evolution.

The purpose of this article is to show the ways of expressing the Macedonian category of witness in Polish translations of Macedonian prose. At the beginning we present the situation of the прекажаност category against a background of the other Slavonic languages and than we characterize this category and its grammatical exponents. After that we describe the problem of truth modality which the category of witness is included in. We particularly take into concideration Polish language and the Macedonian adverbs serving this function. In the final part of this article we present some examples showing the Macedonian прекажаност category which are taken from the Polish translations of Macedonian texts. It lets us get the representation of the practical usage of the devices approchable for translators.

The subject of interest is the so-called double definiteness in the Macedonian language. These are cases where the noun phrase, besides the article, which is a marker of definiteness, is complemented with a demonstrative pronoun in a preposition. This phenomenon is not new in the Macedonian language but occurs more commonly especially in the spoken standard. The author attempts to understand the origin of this phenomenon as well as its distribution in the modern language. The conclusion is that a new type of article may be created, an analytical one.

In the article the grammatical / morphological problems generated by the Macedonian suffixes borrowed from the Turkish language are listed. The main topic is the etymology of the Slavic diminutive-hypocoristic suffix -чe. The possible influence of Turkish on the persistence and frequency of this suffix is considered.

Artykuł wylicza problemy gramatyczne/morfonologiczne, jakie generują na gruncie języka macedońskiego sufiksy zapożyczone z języka tureckiego. Główny temat stanowią rozważania o etymologii słowiańskiego sufiksu deminutywno-hipokorystycznego -če. Pod uwagę brany jest ewentualny wpływ turecki na utrwalenie i frekwencję tego sufiksu.

Macedonians are completely satisfied with the present form of their liturgical texts as far as their language is concerned, though at the same time they feel a constant need to prove their national and spiritual identity. For a long time Church Slavonic in its Russian version was used as the liturgical language, but in 1920s the contemporary language started taking gradually its place, the process growing stronger after the state acquired independence in 1991. First translations of biblical and liturgical texts into the contemporary language appeared after 1945, for example the four Gospels were translated from Church Slavonic by the archbishop of Ochrid and Macedonia, Gabriel II and printed in 1952. The first complete translation of the Bible into the contemporary Macedonian was edited in 1990, though it is strongly felt, especially in the circle of academic lecturers and translators of the liturgical texts, that the Bible should be translated from its original languages, which the lack of specialists in the domain makes difficult. The need to work out the Macedonian language, especially its liturgical version – free of Turkish and somewhat Greek influence - and the Macedonian liturgical music and singing rises many discussions, also among the Church hierarchy, professors of theology and musicologists both in the country as well as in the diaspora all over the world.
