This article is written in memoriam of Ihor Skochylas, a historian and outstanding researcher. In 1993 he graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. He worked at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and then at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. He was visiting professor at the Ukrainische Freie Universität in Munich. He is the author of 250 scientific publications on the history of the Ternopil region and, above all, the history of the Church in Ukraine in the broader perspective of the history of the First Republic and in connection with the universal Church. Innovative research by Ihor Skoczylas is related to the search for a “mental map”. The book by Ihor Skoczylas, co-authored with A. Gil, entitled “Eastern Churches in the Polish-Lithuanian state” (Lublin-Lviv 2014).

I first met Professor Dobrzycki on the day of my final Defence exam for my Master’s thesis. My dissertation focused on the Concept and Activities of In-tegration within the Caribbean Basin, which had apparently caught Professor Do-brzycki’s attention and, because he was the Specialist on Western Hemisphere affairs he functioned as one of the academic reviewers of my work.

Janusz Wałek commemorates Prof. Zdzisław Żygulski Jr., with whom he worked for many years in the Czartoryski Museum in Cracow. The professor is portrayed in this memory against the background of Puławy and the Temple of the Sibyl, the oldest Polish museum, which was founded in 1801 by Izabela Czartoryska née Fleming; and of the Princes Czartoryski Museum, where the Professor was Head of Military Department for many years. Professor Zdzisław Żygulski Jr. was a prominent scientist and art historian, an expert in weapons, Oriental culture and art, as well as a costume designer. He is recalled in various situations such as preparing an exhibition, examining historical monuments, sharing his knowledge with colleagues, giving lectures and travelling to historical places in the world. This recollection emphasises his scientific achievement, including his establishment of the exact date of Lady with Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci by analysing the costume. It also highlights the Professor’s diverse values such as his personal charm, sensitivity, deep knowledge of humanities and kindness. The author’s long-term association with Professor allowed him to make several personal recollections, and to portray him at different moments of his life, from adulthood to late old age.

Zmarłego niedawno prof. Zdzisława Żygulskiego jun. wspomina współpracujący z Nim przez wiele lat w Muzeum Czartoryskich w Krakowie Janusz Wałek. Profesor pojawia się w tym wspomnieniu na tle Puław i założonego tam w roku 1801 przez Izabelę z Flemingów Czartoryską najstarszego polskiego muzeum – Świątyni Sybilli, a także na tle Muzeum Książąt Czartoryskich w Krakowie, w którym Profesor przez wiele lat sprawował funkcję kierownika działu militariów. Profesor Zdzisław Żygulski jun. – wybitny naukowiec, historyk sztuki, znawca broni, kultury i sztuki Orientu oraz kostiumolog wspominany jest w różnych sytuacjach: gdy urządza ekspozycję, robi przeglądy zabytków, dzieli się swą wiedzą z kolegami, wygłasza wykłady, podróżuje do zabytkowych miejsc na świecie, etc. We wspomnieniu podkreślonaj est waga naukowych odkryć Profesora, m.in. odnośnie ustalenia – na podstawie analizy kostiumologicznej – właściwej daty powstania Damy z gronostajem Leonarda da Vinci. Wspomnienie podkreśla różne walory Profesora, jego urok osobisty, wrażliwość, głęboką humanistyczną wiedzę, życzliwość. Długoletni kontakt piszącego te słowa z Profesorem pozwolił na kilka osobistych wspomnień oraz na ukazanie Go w różnych momentach życia, od wieku dojrzałego po późną starość.
