The article discusses concepts of illuminating a residential building. The importance of computer visualizations for illumination is described. The effect of lighting equipment and illumination method on the final visual effects is analyzed. It was established that the final appearance of the illuminated building is mainly determined by the use of appropriate lighting sources, luminaires and their spatial distribution. A broad choice of lighting equipment offers great possibilities for the visualization of illuminated buildings. It was concluded, however, that the final assessment of the illumination effect is always a subjective and individual opinion of the viewer.
