Dora Gabe’s concept of translation as a product and creative practice was formed by her cooperation with one of the most prominent Bulgarian scholars – Boyan Penev. Later on, after Penev’s death, the poetess has changed and modified her understanding of the process of translation significantly. In this article the author claims that a corporeal experience of the process of translation, spontaneity and a consciously recognized need to cooperate with the author are the most important characteristics of Gabe’s own translational project. Gabe’s long-lasting correspondence with Anna Kamieńska shows all those characteristics and proves that in the late period of Gabe’s work translation was a way to establish a feeling of com-munion and transgress her cultural and artistic identity.

In Poland, Slovak translatological thought is mainly associated with the concepts of Anton Popovič and his school of translation. The article presents an overview of the history of the de‑ velopment of translation and translation studies in Slovakia, and then discusses the poet L’ubomír Feldek’s concept based on his practical experiences as an interpreter and critic of translation. Feldek, like Popovič treats translation as a form of communication, emphasizing a focus on the issues of reception. He presented his conception in the book Z reči do reči (1977), which was met with great interest by Slovak theoreticians of translation. The article presents the polemical and critical opinions and acceptance and praise which were formulated at the time of the publication of the Feldek’s book, and the comments subsequent to the most recent controversy, which document the place of the views of the poet — translator in Slovak translatology.

This article aims towards developing historic studies in the Translation Studies field by analyzing internal and external factors that cast an influence upon Polish translations of Portuguese Comic Books. We intend to prepare a complete list of translated books for future studies in this area and identify possible premisses for analisies. Along those aims it is also crucial for us to identify the most important and problematic elements in comic book translation as to conceive guidelines for general theory for comic book translation.
