This paper presents a simplified method for determining the limit forces acting at the outermost points of a trailer frame. The determinations were done for a tandem axle trailer with gross vehicle weight of 14,000 kg. The calculated forces will be subsequently used for determining the stress distribution pattern in the trailer frame.

W artykule przedstawiono uproszczoną metodę wyznaczania sił granicznych w ramie nośnej na przykładzie uniwersalnej przyczepy rolniczej typu STK 1402 firmy Strautmann. Założono maksymalne obciążenia i uwzględniono sytuacje ekstremalne, mogące wystąpić podczas normalnego użytkowaniu przyczepy. Obliczono wartości reakcji w wyznaczonych podporach, a wyniki przedstawiono w postaci graficznej. Wyniki te stanowią podstawę dalszych obliczeń metodą elementów skończonych.
Forest roads are characterized by low traffic, but heavy timber haulage trucks have a significant influence on road conditions and usually exceed the limit of 80–100 kN per axle. The excessive weight of the trucks degrades the road surface and the forest environment. This article presents the results of a study of timber transport loads from their places of acquirement (forest districts) to the recipient (a large sawmill). The analysis includes the parameters of the timber transport vehicles and focuses especially on the gross vehicle weight (GVW), the total weight of empty truck and trailer during transport, and the weight of their loads. Scania, Iveco, Man, and Mercedes trucks with trailers and semitrailers designed for large-size pine timber transport were analyzed. ANOVA results revealed that all 80 analyzed vehicles exceeded the permitted GVW in the range from 2.28 to 19.94 Mg, transporting from 20.1 to 37.5 m3 of timber. The coefficient of determination between the amount of hauled timber and the GVW equaled 62.7%. Research conducted previously concluded that forest roads with ground and gravel surfaces are not suitable for overloads of 120–150 kN per axle. Therefore, it is necessary to find a logistical solution that will allow the load volume to be maintained at an acceptable level without destroying the forest road surface.
In round wood transport, high variability of transported assortments, made of different tree species, and variability of wood moisture content do not allow to clearly determine the weight of transported raw material. This affects the exceeding gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the transport unit above the legal limit. With significant GVW exceeding, forest roads are exposed to high tonnage vehicles, which results in vehicle axle loads above the accepted design parameters for the pavement and cause faster degradation of the forest roads. The purpose of this study was to investigate the real axle loads of roundwood transport vehicles arising from the gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the transport unit in different seasons of the year and depending on the type of transport set and the type of wood assortments. Measurements of axle loads for round wood truck transport units were carried out on the sites of three large wood industry companies from the north of Poland, which process different types of wood. The load on the individual axles of high tonnage truck units was measured using Model DINI ARGEO WWSD portable truck scales with a 3590M309 weighing terminal with 0.01 t graduation. In total, measurements were taken for 904 round wood deliveries, made by different transport units. Dominated was truck and trailer set with 473 deliveries, including 344 deliveries by six-axle sets. The second most frequently observed was truck and semi-trailer, 334 deliveries, where 193 was made by six-axle sets. There is a decrease in the use of truck and dolly and truck and lightweight semi-trailer combinations, which were five-axle combinations, for round wood deliveries. The lowest axle load for all sets occurs on axle one in the range of average values of 7.07-7.86t with a spread of results from 4.49 to 10.20t. The highest average axle loads of 9.15-12.43t were found on axle two for all observed transport sets, where a maximum value of 14.52t was also found. There were statistically significant differences in the values of loads on individual axles depending on the type of truck unit, type of wood assortment and delivery date. The distribution of the total gross vehicle weight of the set is on average 58-60% to the truck (three axles) and 40-42% to the trailer/semi-trailer (two axles) in five-axle sets, and in six-axle sets the truck and trailer/semi-trailer (three axles).

Oversized transport requires certain rules, in some cases, obtain the consent of the administrator of roads on the route. In addition, this type of transport can be implemented properly selected equipment and qualified personnel. In some situation requires reconstruction of road infrastructure. In this article is an example of the selection of semi-trailers for the transport of wind power tower tube. Attention was also drawn to the risks from this type of transport.

Wood transport is carried out with the use of five-axle and six-axle high tonnage vehicles whose total weight should not exceed 40 tons. The objective of this study was to recognize the real loads on vehicle's axles during transportation of timber. Paper presented an analysis of the parameters for vehicles used to wood transportation, such as technical characteristics, gross vehicle weight, load on particular axles, single timber loads. 80 vehicles of different types and marks, in sets of 3+2 or 3+3 axles, were investigated. The total weight of vehicles ranged from 42 to 60 t, and the average load per single axle from 80 to 120 kN.
