W artykule opisano udział „Hydroprojektu Warszawa" Oddział we Włocławku w projektowaniu i nadzorze przejścia rurociągiem gazowym DN 1400 przez Wisłę koło Włocławka. Na głębokości do 12 m w uprzednio przygotowanych wykopach w poprzek nurtu ułożono dwa rurociągi stalowe długości po około 1300 m, a następnie ubezpieczono przed rozmyciem i zasypano. Naświetlone zostały trudności wynikłe w trakcie prowadzenia tej operacji, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli podwodnych pomiarów, których technologia i precyzja decydowały o prowadzeniu operacji.

The paper describes the participation of "Hydroprojekt Warszawa" Branch Włocławek in planning and supervising the crossing the Vistula near Włocławek by the gas piping DN 1400. At the depth of 12 m. there have been put down two steel pipelines of the length cca. 1300 m. in excavations previosly made in the river bed crosswise the current. Then they have been protected against washing away and filled up. In the paper there have been also shown difficulties in carrying on that operation with special regard to the role of underwater measurements the technology and precision of which were deciding for the success of the work.

The development of gas networks and the significant increase of the number of gas consumers in Poland has resulted in making many strategic decisions connected with investment process in this sector. At the same time, better and more technologically advanced materials applied in gas pipeline constructions and their modernization have enabled the transmission of bigger amount of gas medium in the existing pipelines. The increased gas pressure in pipelines increases their capacity and allows to enlarge the number of end users. Unfortunately, the poor technical condition of many gas pipelines means that such procedures are impossible without expensive repairs or without the replacement of the part or even the whole installation.

Omówiono przyczyny uszkodzeń gazociągów, podstawy teoretyczne, analizy przepływu w gazociągach i otworach oraz podstawy symulacji sieci. Przedstawiono wyznaczone charakterystyki przepływowe modelowych uszkodzeń. Sposób wykorzystania charakterystyk pomiarowych w komputerowej symulacji sieci przedstawiono na przykładzie fragmentów sieci dystrybucyjnych.

The method for combining the numerical gas network simulation with experimentally determined flow characteristics of pipeline ruptures is presented which enables calculation of gąs losses from damaged gas networks. Main causes of damages are discussed and the thermodynamics of gas flow through pipelines, nozzles and irregular openings as well as principles of gas network simulation are described. Flow characteristics of model pipeline damages determined experimentally are presented. The results of combining these results with network simulation are illustrated for sample fragments of distribution network.

A 10-mile pipeline that will connect the north and south sides of Hampton Roads Harbor - made possible through onshore and marine horizontal directional drilling - will allow Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) to expand capabilities to serve a growing customer base and will also open new doors for HDD projects, industry experts say. The project's onsite work began in May 2008 and is scheduled for completion in November 2009, with the final land-to-water shore approach completed and tie-ins of the 24-in. steel product pipe now under way. At the heart of the project were seven HDD crossings completed by Mears Group Inc. working closely with the prime contractor, Weeks Marine Inc.

The article presents the 2004 Trenchless Technology Project of the Year- New Installation: The Hubline project, which connects the 650 mile Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline north of the Boston to the 1000-mile Algonquin system to the south. The project, which was put in service in November 2003, consists primarily of about 30 miles of 30- in diameter gas transmission main.
