In the paper investigations results of three-phase air - water - oil up-flow in a vertical pipe are presented. The total pressure drop measurements including the hydrostatic and frictional components of pressure drop for three-phase flow were described. The influence of velocity and void fraction of each phase on pressure drop was determined. The method for pressure drop prediction was given.
The possibility of decreasing the energy consumption in transportation of three-phase mixtures in pipes was estimated. It was confirmed that decreasing of fluid transportation costs could be achieved when the pressure drop reduction effects were observed. The proposal of energy costs reduction in gas - liquid - liquid mixtures flow was described. The optimal energy conditions of transportation of these mixtures were determined.
