Bacterial diseases pose significant problems during fish rearing. Furunculosis, caused by Aeromonas sp., and yersinosis, caused by Yersinia ruckeri, are frequently the cause of losses during rainbow trout rearing, especially at the fry stage. This study attempts to evaluate the impact vaccinations had on the growth and survival of rainbow trout fry. The vaccines against furunculosis and yersiniosis (which had been produced using field strains) were administered through immersion. The control group of fish was subjected to the same immersion procedure in water without vaccines. The best rearing results (both survival and growth) were noted with the group vaccinated against furunculosis. The results of the experiment also indicated that the vaccinations also lowered losses and permitted reducing mortality, which has tangible benefits in the form of profit.
