Aspergillus parasiticus RCMB 002001 (2) producing four types of aflatoxins B₁ B₂, G₁, and G₂ was used in this study as an aflatoxin-producer. Penicillium griseofulvum, P. urticae, Paecilomyces lilacinus, Trichoderma viride, Candida utilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae as well as a non-toxigenic strain of Aspergillus flavus were found to be able to exhibit growth on aflatoxin B₁-containing medium up to a concentration of 500 ppb. It was also found that several fungal strains exhibited the growth in co-culture with A. parasiticus, natural aflatoxins producer, and were able to decreased the total aflatoxin concentration, resulting in the highest inhibition percentage of 67.2% by T. viride, followed by P. lilacinus, P. griseofulvum, S. cerevisiae, C. utilis, P. urticae, Rhizopus nigricans and Mucor rouxii with total aflatoxin inhibition percentage of 53.9, 52.4, 52, 51.7,44, 38.2 and 35.4%, respectively. The separation of bioremediation products using GC/MS revealed that the toxins were degraded into furan moieties.

Growth and sporulation of 20 single-spore isolates of Drechslera avenae grown on different agar media were investigated at 24oC and 11oC. Four different agar media were used – water agar (WA, 20 g agar x l-1), maltose-peptone agar (MPA, 20 g maltose from Difco, 2.5 g peptone, 20 g agar x l-1), potatodextrose agar (PDA, from Difco, 39 g x l-1), and rye agar (RA). The isolates were evaluated in respect of growth, colony colour, and formation of morphological structures. The study showed differences between isolates in respect of colony growth, depending on culture conditions. Comparing macroscopic features of all D. avenae isolates tested, three groups of strains formed equal colonies and four individual strains were separated. Generally, most strains, except strains number: 2, 4, 7, 9, 10, 13 and 17, grew faster on all agar media at 24oC than at 11oC. In case of D. avenae isolates, hyphal growth was the fastest on MPA medium and the slowest on WA. All strains investigated produced typical conidiophores and conidia both at 24oC and 11oC, but at 24oC earlier sporulation was observed. MPA and RA were the best media for the sporulation of D. avenae strains. Sporulation of this species was the latest on WA.

Dokonano selekcji oraz doboru odpowiednich szczepów grzyba Paecilomyces farinosus zdolnych do porażania prusaków (Blattella germanica L,). Badania prowadzono na prusakach dojrzałych, zróżnicowanych pod względem wieku i płci. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na zróżnicowany charakter patogeniczności testowanych szczepów w stosunku do badanych populacji prusaków. Do szczepów mogących posłużyć do zwalczania prusaków zaliczono szczepy 5, Ł i P grzyba P. farinosus, które przy stosunkowo niskiej gęstości zarodników powodowały wysoką śmiertelność u doświadczalnych owadów.

The strains of P. farinosus capable of killing the cockroach Blattella germanica L. were selected. The experiment was carried out using mature insects in age groups and sex groups. The results showed differences in the insecticidal capability of the tested strains in this population of insects. Strains 5, Ł, P of P. farinosus were accepted as possibly useful against Blattella since at relatively low concentration of spores they produced a high mortality of the insects.

Pinus sylvestris seedlings grown in containers in a peat-vermiculite substrate were inoculated with vegetative inoculum of 11 strains Rhizopogon roseolus (Corda.) Th. M. Fries. Seeds were germinated in May 2006. Five months after germination the seedlings were evaluated for their growth and development and ectomycorrhizal frequency. There were significant differences between trait seedlings P. sylvestris inoculated 11 strains used in this experiments. The highest mean values of height and steam diameter were obtained with seedlings inoculated with strain G fungus R. roseolus. There were no significant differences between dry weight seedlings inoculated all strains. R. roseolus formed ectomycorrhizae on 100% of the inoculated plants at all variants. The highest colonization of short roots were obtained with seedlings inoculated with strain D this fungus (29%). There were destined strains D, G and I fungus R. roseolus to further studies.
