Contemporary understanding of safety as a central category is analysed not only from the viewpoint of military security but also in the context of economic, political and ecological aspects.These dimensions of providing safety are to a large extent of interest to the police and are involved in their efforts aimed to protect and defend values underlying the law. Central to these efforts is the problem of fight, its scope, strategies and restrictions imposed by the law, ethics and other social norms. Thus, the analysis involves the notion of fight, its police specificity and limitations as a consequence of values and standards of professional integrity and their impact on effectiveness of policing. Quest for the boundary between effective fighting for values, including safety, and methods of fighting (with their risk of some values being violated) is mainly a moral issue which determines the dynamics of the integrity of police fight.

The article describes scandalization mechanism, which may be active in discussions on values and other questions. It involves an association of a particular event with crime, horror and negative anticipation. Scandalization is also manifested by a visual exaggeration, hate speech, incivility and the lack of respect in discussions. The 2016 abortion debate in Poland has been analyzed to define the mechanisms.

Розкрита наукова концепція дослідження моделювання техніко-тактичної підготовки в таеквондо. Визначені особливості техніко-тактичної підготовки таеквондистів. Доведені доцільність впровадження в спортивну практику таеквондо спеціальних тренажерів. Визначені основні завдання управління підготовкою таеквондистів з урахуванням етапів становлення спортивної майстерності.

The article discloses the concept of scientific research of modeling technical and tactical training in taekwondo. The peculiarities of taekwondists’ technical and tactical training are identified. The expediency of introducing special training equipment into taekwondo sports practice is proved. The main tasks of taekwondo training management with regard to the stages of formation of sports skills are defined.

The article presents an analysis of two literary works – Klątwa [Curse] by Stanisław Wyspiański (1869–1907) and the Riders to the Sea by John Millington Synge (1871–1909), examined in the context of elements characteristic of ancient tragedy the present in their structure. As a result, although both plays are set in the countryside, they go beyond the naturalistic convention and are more reminiscent of tragic miniatures. They employ the poetics of maximum condensation. Both Klątwa and Riders to the Sea are a modern reading of ancient tragedy, consistently recognised by the authors to be the highest form of playwriting. Wyspiański’s and Synge’s characters are struggling with the real world, with the difficulties of everyday life, but also with the world transcendent to their consciousness, which turns out to be incomprehensible and terrifying at the same time, where forces of Fate rule, to which man is vulnerable. Synge’s heroine surrenders to fate, while the character in Klątwa stands up for herself and fight. Each of them defends her human dignity in her own way.
