Degree of mechanical properties degradation of AlZn5Mgl (PA47) alloy and its weldments under the influence of seawater environment and exploitation stresses has been shown. The superstructure of the 620-class ship was made of the AlZn5Mgl (PA47) alloy, which was the reason of serious problems during the intense exploitation and with technical processing [1]. To eliminate such problems, the chemical structure of AlZn5Mgl (PA47) alloy was modified, and it was subjected to comparative researches. Comparison and analysis of the obtained results confirmed that Al-Zn-Mg alloy can be used for welded light ship constructions that are working under strong stresses and have good corrosion resistance in seawater.
