The article presents a proposal for the development of an expert system, that would work together with the person conducting endoscopic examination and aid that person in quicker assessment and classification of the discovered pathologic lesions of the alimentary canal. The software is concentrated on polypoid lesions. The Aitech Sphinx shell system, that allows for a depiction of the queries with film or image footage was proposed as the shell of the developed software suite.

This article characterises the methodology for the endoscopic testing of a laboratory diesel engine used for testing marine fuels. The ‘Shadow’ measurement method used in the XLG3 type EVEREST digital endoscope, for quantitative and qualitative identification of detected surface defects, was approximated. Representative endoscopic images of the elements limiting the working space of the research engine are demonstrated, having been recorded during the usable quality testing of newly produced, low-sulphur marine fuels, so-called ‘modified fuels’. The main purpose of the endoscopic examinations was the final verification of the tested fuel’s suitability for feeding full-size marine engines.

W artykule podjęto zagadnienie diagnostyki endoskopowej przestrzeni roboczych tłokowych silników spalinowych. Scharakteryzowano endoskopową aparaturę diagnostyczną będącą na wyposażeniu bazy laboratoryjnej Katedry Siłowni Morskich i Lądowych Wydziału Oceanotechniki i Okrętownictwa Politechniki Gdańskiej. Przybliżono metodykę realizacji badań endoskopowych na przykładzie laboratoryjnego silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym z wstępną komorą spalania. Miały one na celu ocenę stanu referencyjnego jego przestrzeni roboczej przed rozpoczęciem testowania różnego rodzaju pozostałościowych paliw żeglugowym, w tym zasiarczonych i modyfikowanych. Załączone wyniki badań endoskopowych dotyczą zarówno jakościowej jak i ilościowej oceny wykrytych defektów powierzchniowych elementów ograniczających przestrzeń robocza przedmiotowego silnika.

Artykuł przedstawia problemy związane z eksploatacją luf artyleryjskich wskazując efekty ich zużycia oraz charakteryzuje pokrótce przyczyny takiego stanu rzeczy. Zaprezentowane zostało nowe narzędzie diagnostyczne jakim jest wideoendoskop, a autor przedstawia zalety stosowania tej metody w diagnostyce luf. Przedstawiono szereg czynników, które przy diagnostyce luf mogą okazać się kluczowe i w sposób zasadniczy wpłynąć na właściwą, bezpieczną ich dalszą eksploatację. Poruszony został również problem odpowiedniego wyszkolenia personelu dokonującego wnioskowania w zakresie dalszej eksploatacji luf. Przedstawiono przykład niewłaściwej interpretacji pomiarów, które wpłynąć mogą na ostateczne wnioskowanie w zakresie dalszej eksploatacji.

The article presents problems associated with the operation of artillery barrels pointing to the effects of their consumption and characterizes briefly the reasons for this state of affairs. A new diagnostic tool- wideoendosko- has been introduced in the article and the author shows the advantages of using this method in the diagnosis of barrels . A number of factors have been presented which may prove crucial at barrels diagnosis and may fundamentally affect the proper, secure further barrels exploitation. The author also brought up the problem of adequately trained personnel determinig future barrels exploitation. Finally, the article presents an example of an incorrect interpretation of measurements, which may affect the final conclusion with regard to further exploitation.

The usefulness of endoscopic examination for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic enteritis in dogs was determined in this study. It was demonstrated, based on a clinical case, that endoscopy is essential for IBD diagnosis in dogs. Endoscopy also helps to estimate the efficiency of the treatment strategy applied. Nonspecific clinical examination results as well as a predominating lack of deviation in laboratory parameters make endoscopy the basic examination technique in mild and moderately advanced forms of chronic enteritis in the dog.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the applicability of endoscopic examination as a diagnostic method in urethra and bladder ailments in dogs. The experiment involved 60 dogs of different breeds and gender, weighing from 5 to 65 kg, aged between 7 months and 12 years. The dogs were divided into two groups. Group I consisted of clinically healthy animals on which all the lower urinary tract endoscopic examinations described in the literature as well as biopsies of mucosa were performed. Group II consisted of clinical patients, on which endoscopic diagnostic examination was conducted and, on some of them, biopsies for histopathologic examination were made. The results of the experiment suggest that the lower urinary track endoscopy is a suitable diagnostic technique for recognition and differentiation of mucosa inflammation, establishment of causes of haematuria, diagnostics of neoplasms and detection of the existence of an ectopic ureter. Biopsy and histopathologic examination improved the diagnostic value of endoscopy. The techniques tested in our study, inclusive of more invasive method like PPC and cystoscopy on males preceded by the perineal urethrotomy, enable doctors to perform the lower urinary tract endoscopic examination on dogs, especially up to 5 kg. regardless of their gender.
