The present paper is concerned with the simplified analysis of deformation and stress states in converging hoppers during filling and discharge of a granular material. The equilibrium conditions and stress-strain relations are satisfied for cylindrical slice elements assuming dependence of displacement and stress on radial coordinate. The elastic or elasto-plastic material model is used with the Coulomb yield condition and non-associated flow rule. The paper presents a detailed analysis of pressure evolution of a granular material on a hopper wall during the emptying process when the initial active state of pressure is transformed into the passive state. The growth of wall pressure associated with this process is demonstrated. The analytical treatment presented in this paper can be compared with the respective finite element solution.

This paper presents the optimisation of an octopus type car rim in which first critical zones have been found and then optimum thickness has been investigated using an elasto-plastic analysis. In this study, three dimensional finite elements method has been used for conducting elasto-plastic analysis. In the finite element analysis, the elements forming the meshes are hexahedral linear elements with eight nodes. Twelve different meshes were used. A quadrant of rim is exploited due to its symmetric shape. The theoretical results have been compared with experimental ones. It seems that the theoretical results are in agreement with the experimental ones. The results were given in tables, graphics and figures.
Praca dotyczy analizy numerycznej procesu roztłaczania rur w ścianach sitowych. W pierwszej części analizowano płaski model połączenia za pomocą programu MES ANSYS w zakresie sprężysto-plastycznym. Badano wpływ luzu i ciśnienia roztłaczania na naciski resztkowe między rurą a tarczą. Otrzymane wyniki porównano z obliczeniami teoretycznymi. W drugiej części analizowano model bryłowy z pojedynczą rurą roztłaczaną. Uzyskano w ten sposób rozwiązanie zmienne wzdłuż osi rury. W trzeciej części został rozwiązany model połączenia tarczy z kilkoma rurami, wykorzystując symetrię połączenia. Zasadniczym celem obliczeń jest określenie charakteru nacisków między rurą a ścianą oraz oszacowanie naprężeń w połączeniu po dokonanym procesie roztłaczania.

The paper deals with a numerical analysis of the tube expanding process in a tube plate. In the first part a plane model of the connection was analyzed in ANSYS program, taking into consideration the linear strain-hardening of the material. The influence of clearance and expanding pressure on the rest pressure was investigated. In the second part a solid model with a single expanded tube was analyzed. A variable solution along the axis of the tube was obtained. In the third part the connection model of the tube plate with a few of tubes was analyzed. The perforation factor of the plate on stress results can be investigated. The primary objective of the calculation is to determine the nature of the pressure between the pipe and the wall and estimation of stresses in the joint after the process of expanding.
