The author investigates the interpretation of cultures in the context of tourist choices and its understanding of the most precious tourist attractions. She suggests that ‘miracles of the world’ are the subjective choices of given centers of research and academic opinions. The perception and valuation of the remains from the early historical periods consists of stereotypes of nations and races. The south is interpreted as the less interesting reservoir of anthropogenic tourism values. The author presents some examples of transcultural interpretations analyzing Polish books on cultural tourism.
