Opisuje kolejno metody modelowania zmian sztywności konstrukcji w miejscu uszkodzenia, metody wibracyjne wykorzystywane do detekcji uszkodzeń, metody rozwiązywania zadania odwrotnego, tj. poszukiwania parametrów uszkodzenia w oparciu o zmierzone zmiany charakterystyk dynamicznych konstrukcji.

The aim of this work is to perform currently used vibrational methods for damage detection in structures. The monograph presents the actual state of the art. in the field of damage detection. Also the results of calculations obtained by authors during canying out the scientific research programme financed by State Committe for Scientific Research in years 1999 - 2001 are included. The work presents methods of modelling the changes in structure's flexibility due to crack appearance, vibrational methods used for damage detection, methods used for inverse problems (finding the parameters of the failure from measured dynamic characteristics). There are also traditional, non-inverse methods described, which include neuronal nets and genetic algorithms. The work includes also a description of the new, experimentally verified one-dimensional constructional elements with cracks, elaborated by authors. The main innovation implemented into described models is taking into account the influence of plasticity zone around the crack tip for the global flexibility of the structure. Additionally in the monograph results of the analysis of sensitivity of dynamic damage indicators, known from literature, are presented. Moreover influence of measurement errors, a number of measurement points, an excitation frequency, etc on the possibility of damage detection was analysed. The work is summarised with information about the possible directions for future damage detection techniques.

In the paper the discrete-continuous model of a single gear transmission with nonlinear forces occurring between gear teeth is studied. It is assumed that gear teeth have nonlinear stiffhess having softening characteristics described by the function. Considerations are performed by means of the wave method which enables to determine nonlinear dynamie loads in steady as well as in transient states. The numerical analysis focuses on the investigation of the effect of the assumed nonlinearities on amplitude-frequency curves for dynamic loads.

Building vibrations caused by metro train passages are measured in situ and results are analysed in probability aspects. Distribution of peaks, probability of overpassing of given level according to formuła (2) are calculated and presented in figures 4 and 5. Obtained values may be used in dynamic diagnostics of buildings e.g. according to Polish Standard PN-85/B-02170.

The problem of a particular type of loading upon slender systems is presented in the work. This type of loading was invented in the Częstochowa Technical University. The loading gives a specific course of a curve in the load - natural frequency plane. A theoretical solution concerning boundary conditions for a column upon a generalised load towards a positive pole is also presented.

Electrorheological fluids show immediate variations of their rheological properties when subjected to varying electric fields. This study presents vibration analysis of a closed cylindrical shell partially filled with controllable fluids. The analysed structure as an element of harmonic drive can generale torsional vibration due to the wave generation operation. As a result of the study fluid-filled laminated cylindrical shell has shown an increased and controllable damping capacity as compared to the conventional shell.

This paper presents problems connected with the identification of dynamic motions equations derived on the basis of Maggi equations for a 2-wheeled mobile robot. The possibitity of sending data between Maple™and Matlab™ has been discussed. Off-line structures of identification have been presented with use of fuzzy logic. Remarks and conclusions have been drawn. Continuous time parametrical model has been developed and applied to identiflcation of the mobile 2-wheeled robot. The least square method to adjust the model's parameter is derived.

Equations of motion have been deduced for a plate strengthened with an orthogonal framework of ribs, taking into account the discrete placing of the ribs. An accurate solution of these equations has been obtained for the case when the plate reinforced with the ribs placed along one of the co-ordinate directions. For the plate strengthened with one longitudinal rib the influence of discrete placing of this rib and its rigidity on the magnitudes of the wave parameters of the harmonic waves propagating along the plate was studied by the numerical example.

The paper presents a theoretical study of damping nonlinear vibrations in a two-mass model of mechanical system containing torsion damper. It is assumed the starting of system by a harmonic forced with uniformly varying frequency and constant amplitude of the forced moment. In the work take into consideration a simultaneous structural friction phenomena. The problem is considered on the assumption of a uniform unit pressure distribution between the contacting surfaces of friction discs and plunger. The aim of the analysis is to asses the influence of geometrie parameters system, external load and unit pressure The equations of motion of the examined system was solved by means of the Krylov - Bogolubov - Mitropolski method and and digital simulation method.

Numerous dedicated computer programs are of much help at insulator designing process. Making a digital model of an insulator and then performing computer simulation for the phenomena occurring both inside and outside of it, becomes nowadays (in the era of rapid development of informatics) a vital source of information on the insulator behavior at established (both given and analyzed) operational conditions. Such a process appears to be necessary at the stage of insulator design process. The computer simulation results can verify the data obtained during actual insulator operation or laboratory tests, which make it possible to do suitable adjustments still at the design stage in order to include some innovative solutions, operational features improvements as well as to get some economical advantages resulting from them. Selected problems associated with mechanical phenomena occurring at insulator operation, have been addressed in this paper. The calculations have been made with MSC/PATRAN v.8.5 used mainly for mechanical purposes.

The paper discusses methods of diagnosing the technical condition of reinforced concrete beams, based on the change in dynamic characteristics. The objects of research were reinforced concrete (RC) beams. Testing of RC beams included both static and dynamic tests. A series of step loaded static tests was aimed to produce successive damage to the beams. After each load step (at the moment of displacement and strain stabilization), dynamic testing followed. On the basis of the obtained results from different beams (different distances between supports), an effort was made to correlate the data concerning the damage of the tested beams with the changes of the modal parameters.

This paper deals with a description of the behavior of the two-phase soil layer (column) under periodic load. The soil layer (column) is fully saturated with single pore fluid and treated by the methods of continuum mechanics. Description of motion and deformation of soil is introduced as a system of equations consisting of governing dynamic consolidation equations based on Biot theory, selected constitutive and kinematic relations for small strains and rotation. The solution and results of simple one dimensional numerical analysis of the fully saturated layer under cyclic load are included. Also the so-called dynamic coefficient which shows amplification or attenuation of dynamic response is considered.
