EN
This article presents the results of a study on the housing situation of young married couples in Olsztyn. The results were derived from a survey addressed to newlyweds, which was developed according to J. Korniłowicz (2003). The research material was collected in collaboration with the Register Office in Olsztyn. An indicator method proposed by A. Andrzejewski (1987) was applied to the processing of the data. The purpose of this study was to analyze the housing situation of young married couples. The results implicate quite a high self-evaluation of the housing situation by young married couples. The most common type of home occupied by newlyweds was their own flat (including mortgaged ones), followed by sharing a flat with the family of one of the spouses while starting the construction of one's own house. Furthermore, over 50% of the respondents considered temporary economic migration and nearly 40% declared they could feel forced to emigrate permanently due to their housing situation.

Dwelling is one of the practices that builds the lifestyle of an individual who selects convenient, usually consistent elements from the entire range of communication offers. Analysis shows how living space is organised and presented in new development investments. The aim of the analysis was to reconstruct images of modern housing based on the marketing communication which is presented on development companies’ websites. It was possible to distinguish repetitive narratives about flats and estates considered as spaces that perform functions and serve specific purposes. The concept of JOS (Linguistic Image of the World) was used for the analysis and facilitated the discovery of the representation of the perception of reality contained in language. The research was based on the vocabulary, phraseology and semantics of the texts. The analysis made it possible to perceive and describe five highlights in communication dimensions of living (location, design adaptation, safety, community and comfort). Capturing the relationship between linguistic and social elements and their meaning, significant from the point of view of creating meanings, has led to the conclusion that buying an apartment from a developer equals buying a specific lifestyle. Developers using communication based on social norms and aspirations offer the individual a coherent vision of a “better” future and an ideal life. Despite the slight differences between various estate investments, the picture of residence presented in the marketing communications is universal—it refers to a small catalogue of values.

Integrated measurements of radon (222Rn) and thoron (220Rn) were executed in a Hungarian village, located in the vicinity of an abandoned uranium mine. The applied passive radon and thoron monitor was the RADUET which is based on a CR-39 track detector. The investigated 35 houses were one storey buildings made of bricks. The rock under the village is a gray-sandstone with an average of 136 and 77 Bqźkg–1 uranium and thorium, respectively. The detectors were mostly placed in the inhabited areas of the houses, such as bedrooms and living-rooms, at a height of 1–1.5 m close to the wall. The measurement periods were between December 2006 and May 2007 and between May 2007 and February 2008. Annual averages of radon concentrations were calculated applying seasonal correction factors to the results of the two measurement periods. The results show that the radon concentrations in the case of considerable part of the investigated dwellings seems to be significantly higher than the Hungarian averages for ground-floor houses (152 Bqźm–3). The thoron concentrations in some cases are also not negligible indicating that radon measurements which are sensitive to thoron can be misleading. Additionally, thoron can also be a contributor of extra dose.

The article explores the paradox of simultaneous coexistence in two worlds. It raises questions concerning Martin Heidegger’s notion of dwelling understood as constructing, building and managing both virtual and real spaces. The main thesis of the article is that it is impossible to reconcile the world of being with the virtual presence in the world of video games arising from human finitude: being toward death. The article also attempts at answering the question about the manner in which (in the framework of virtual dwelling) the narrative identity is constructed in games and about the role of imagination in media theatrics of game players’ activities.

"Return to oikology" is our imperative that tells us what we are obligated to do with home in times of homelessness, migration, and travelling. The domestic thinking can lead us to extension our thought of home and emplacement, entering the remoteness and openness. The idea of being off the beaten track brings our domestication and dwelling again. Serious thinking about home and locality shows anew the task that becomes our challenge. Oikology uncover a poverty of being attached to the nomadic thoughts. We recognize the house in a place off the beaten track - on the sidelines of the world, on the sidelines of discourses, on the sidelines of the official route of culture, on the sidelines promoted the mobility of people and things, but on the sidelines of propaganda of stability and familiarity. We are already so far removed to see the house again, but close enough not to lose the simplicity of home. Oikology leads us to the disquieting question: are you really convinced of that house so easily let you go into all the world?

The photo-essay aims at presenting selected characteristics of migrants’ dwelling (an untypical dwelling formation) such as: temporality, dialectics of openness on others and closeness in private space or poor material cul- ture. Authors’ interpretations these characteristics allow for redefining mi- grants’ dwelling as a non-home, a concept introduce as a result of their boar- der studies on dwelling cultures in the context of migration. A non-home is neither a simple nor a sophisticated anti-thesis of a home. It rather consists of a mixture of components, directly transferred from home and beyond. Interpretations of a non-home illustrate selected dimensions of contempo- rary transformations of culture. Presented photos were captured during our field study between 2007 and 2010 in Warsaw.

The author presents the issues regarding the architectural space for ideas in the context of the dwelling process. The selected topic is the presentation of an attempt to revitalise a district of Gdańsk through an original intentional project. A larger context is the problem of the unwanted legacy of tower block housing estates, which are not an appropriate answer to the need to dwell and not even necessarily to the need for a shelter. A home requires the experience of identification with the place and needs space developed on a case specific basis. Crowding and surfeit eliminate the feeling of personal freedom. Yet, the residents of housing estates try to tame the space in which they live. The planned project is to help them with that. The used tool is the ideological architectural sculpture being the medium of the contents supporting adding of the values to the place with many deficits which make the experiencing of the true Home hard for its inhabitants.

Stłoczenie i nadmiar eliminują poczucie osobistej wolności. A jednak mieszkańcy osiedli próbują oswajać przestrzeń, w której żyją. Planowany projekt ma w tym dopomóc. Wykorzystanym narzędziem jest ideowa rzeźba architektoniczna, stanowiąca nośnik treści wspierających przydanie wartości miejscu w wielu niedoborach utrudniających doświadczenie prawdziwego Domu mieszkańcom.

The house is a universal necessity that responds to basic human needs. However these needs evolve and change with society. The future dwelling must be environmentally sound, flexible and capable of adapting to the different needs of today’s evolving population; but above all it must remain affordable. These parameters will be analyzed and juxtaposed on their overall affect on the design of tomorrow’s dwelling drawing from examples and statistical data from UK and the USA.

Taking a practice theoretical approach and building on the research conducted with a group of people who live their lives on the streets of two Polish cities, this paper provides an account of the homeless city dwellers’ mode of emplacement. It offers the terms licensed, invisible, motile, material, relational, affective, and ad hoc mooring to describe how homeless people establish a place of and for various activities that make up their everyday practice of inhabiting the city. While highlighting the accomplishments of homeless places, the paper also underscores their tentativeness and instability. It situates the homeless mode of emplacement within a wider landscape of normative urban geography, against which the ways homeless people establish themselves in place are often judged out-of-place. It attends to the role that this transgressive potential plays in limiting homeless dwellers’ capabilities for mooring and considers how they might be enhanced.

The subject of the article is the analysis of problems related to the two-room apartments, on the example of selected housing investments built recently in Warsaw. During the first three quarters of 2019, approximately 15,000 dwellings were commissioned here, with more than 95% built for sale or for rent. Such a definite dominance of the developer model affects, among others, popularization of specific solutions in the internal layouts. Two-room apartments are currently the most popular on the market. We will examine them in terms of the layout and size of rooms, taking into account the quota in the overall dwelling space and the average flat area. The purpose of the analysis is to indicate the most important problems affecting the comfort of living and an attempt to determine the optimal model of a two-room apartment. The research results are the starting point for discussion on the broader problem of housing availability in categories defined by the number of rooms.

Introduction: The radon isotopes are not as significant as (222Rn) due to the decay of the natural radionuclides (235U), (232Th) and (238U) due to their short half-life, at most. (222Rn) can be classified as among the most harmful radioactive elements in the world. Material and method: In this analysis, the closed-can technique was used with solid-state nuclear track detectors (CR- 39). After forty days of closed dosimeter buried in the soil of the garden, and ninety days from the closed position in the air of some dwellings were collected dosimeter and stripped of nuclear detectors impact of closed groups. For 8 hours, CR-39 detectors were chemically etched by (6.25 N) NaOH solution at 70°C and then registered within an optical microscope. Result: The levels of soil radon concentrations ranged from 28.44±0.58 to 479.76±2.43 Bq/m3 with a mean value of 220.33±1.64 Bq/m3, while the concentration of radon in the air of certain dwellings varied from (1.95±0.27 to 46.82±0.75) Bq/m3 with an average value of 21.51±0.54 Bq/m3. In comparison, the annual effective dose attributed to radon in soil ranged from 0.71±0.09 mSv/y to 12.10±0.38 mSv/y with an average value of 5.55±0.261 mSv/y, while the annual effective dose in air differed from (0.04±0.02 mSv/y) to (1.18±0.12 mSv/y) with an average value of (0.60±0.09 mSv/y). Conclusion: Neglecting the effects of other radon sources, the percentage share of the annual effective dose due to radon in soil measured in the air home, ranged from 0.005±0.001 to 0.453±0.074 with an average value of 0.130±0.040. Weak correlation between concentrations of radon in households and soil air. But roughly speaking, one can say that in soil air every 1000 Bq/m3 and 1000 mSv/y contributes around 130 Bq/m3 and 130 mSv/y in indoor air.

The article presents the results of research on the housing situation of young married couples in Elbląg district. In the study author modified a questionnaire used in the work of J. Korniłowicz (2003), where the indicator method proposed by Adam Andrzejewski (1987) was used. The aim of this paper was to analyze the housing situation of young couples and their self-assessment. The results show a relatively high self-assessment of housing condition safter the wedding, which do not correlate with polish objective indicators. The most common form of residence after the wedding was, in the opinion of the respondents, to live in their own flat (including mortgaged a property), to live with the parents and to start building a house.

Artykuł proponuje mikrosocjologiczną perspektywę w eksploracji praktyk re/konstruowania płci kulturowej (kobiecości i męskości) w przestrzeni domu.

The paper presents a method of building a dwelling house, which is far from the standards currently adopted in Europe. It turns out that without modern “European” technology it is possible to build a cheap and ecological house, perfectly adapted to the environment in which it will be used. In the paper seemingly primitive and at the same time fascinatingly modern solutions, used by the African tribe of Maasai, are presented.

This article is a description of the acceptance procedure under the new Development Act, which came into force on 1 July 2022. The process described relates to the common situation where a defect has become apparent in a property or a single-family house at the stage preceding the conclusion of the final agreement with the developer. The intention of the authors of this article is to describe the course of the acceptance procedure in the light of the complicated Article 41 of the new developer's Act, i.e. the Act on the Protection of the Rights of the Purchaser of a Dwelling or Single-Family House and the Developer's Guarantee Fund (Journal of Laws 2021, item 1177). This provision redefined the rules creating the rights and obligations of the parties to contracts to which the described Act applies.

Bycie w przestrzeni miasta to splot wzajemnych relacji człowieka z miastem, to wielowątkowy dialog niemający końca. To tradycja, zwyczaje, styl życia i w końcu świadomość, bez której nie można by mówić o tożsamości. Wszystko to przekazywane kolejnym pokoleniom kształtuje nasz byt, gdyż miasto to oprócz takich wyznaczników w przestrzeni jak ulica, dom, plac, fontanna, to również pozamaterialne doświadczanie miasta.

Being in a city expanse is a coincidence of mutual relations of a man and a city, this is a never-ending, multithread dialog. That is peculiar palimpsest which previous record has been registered only by a form of outlived emotions, experiences, social bonds of prior generations and marks in a structure of a city. That is tradition, customs, life style and last but not least that is consciousness without which there is no identity. All that, passed on next generations forms our being because a city apart from streets, houses, squares and fountains that is also an immaterial experience.

In the article the lower limit of the thermal power of the central heating installation in the dwelling is presented. It concerns the central heating installation which has a single-point heat supply system for all radiators in the dwelling, for which it is possible to use a heat meter as a dwelling’s heat cost allocator. The Attention was drawn to the inconsistency in the regulations concerning the heat costs allocation in the multi-dwelling buildings with “civil” premises at the Military Property Agency disposal.
