The article shows specific development of the syllabic sonants *E, *E’ in oł in field names of Western Pomerania including the Slavic elements. The similar development was distinguished in the extinct dialects of Polabian, in Kashubian dialects as well as in the Polish dialects of Pomerania (Pomorze), Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) and Silesia (Śląsk). Under the influence of Lesser Poland forms, and later the forms of the literary Polish language, the figures from oł < *E, *E’ were withdrawn. In the Eastern Slavic languages and in Macedonian, where they step out similarly to the Pomeranian syllabic results, also *E, *E’ had a different chronology and origin.
