The author writes about definitions of architectural space known from literaturę, at the same time giving examples of „recipees" for creating attractive architectural space. On the other hand he gives examples from the past and also modern day examples of shaping space by people not regarded as professionalists, wondering wether the line between „architecture" and that which it is not is defined by the qualifications of its creator or the value of the creation itself.

The author presents some selected opinions by architects and students of architecture to prove significance of the definition of boundaries of contemporary architecture. Although the definition itself has not been univocal it should be accepted that it does not correspond to questions of form, function and structure of a building exclusively, but expresses the notion of architecture as a process, containing the whole environment built, to imply then certain social, psychological, economic, political, legal or ecological effects.
