In this paper are presented the results of numeric simulations of flow in a sump of the cooling water pump anon. Asymmetric position the inlet of pump station in relation to cooling tower basin was the reason regular intake to the sump. Irregular flow in the sump induced asymmetric velocity field in the inlet of impeller and incorrectly pump's work. The main reason incorrectly pump's work was forming unsteady swirl c die sump near inlet to the pump. This swirl was changing direction at a frequency of several hundred second.
