Oceniano przydatność 20 odmian drobnokwiatowych, ogrodowych chryzantem do nasadzeń żywopłotowych. Stwierdzono przydatność ocenianych odmian do uprawy żywopłotowej. Najlepiej przezimowały odmiany: ‘Alcala’, ‘Arezzo’, ‘Branivory’, ‘Cortona’, ‘Ibera’, ‘Ostara’, Papiro’, ‘Sabina’, ‘Terano’ i ‘Volterra’, które tworzyły jednocześnie najbardziej okazałe żywopłoty w drugim roku uprawy. Do odmian słabiej zimujących zaliczały się: ‘Sarah’, ‘Frimo’ i ‘Primcolomb’. Te odmiany mogą być wykorzystane jedynie do tworzenia żywopłotów sezonowych.

Usefulness of 20 garden chrysanthemum cultivars for hedge planting was evaluated. The plants were planted in the ground on 14 August 2003, at spacings of 35 × 70 cm, 20 plants of each cultivar. The height and width of plants, the diameter and number of inflorescences on each plant, the process of flowering and date of plant closure were recorded. In the spring each year the overwintering of particular cultivars was evaluated. The usefulness of the evaluated cultivars to hedge planting was affirmed. It was stated, that delayed planting makes impossible the plants to close in the same vegetative season and that it delays flowering. In following year, plant crops achieved larger sizes, they formed a closed hedge faster with greater number of inflorescences. The cultivars that survived winter best were: ’Alcala’, ’Arezzo’, ’Branivory’, ’Cortona’, ’Ibera’, ’Ostara’, ’Papiro’, ’Terano’ and ’Volterra’. They also formed the most impressive hedges in the second year of cultivation. The cultivars overwintering not so well (’Sarah’, ’Frimo’, and ’Primcolomb’) may be used only to form the seasonal hedges.
