The article describes the changes in the landscape around the Bon Repos hunting chateau at Lysá nad Labem. An analysis of the oldest cartographic and iconographic sources from the 18th and 19th centuries was used to assess the wider landscape context and describe the key stages in the evolution of the chateau, adjacent park and farmland.

The paper introduces modern era cemeteries in Lower Silesia as specific parts of historical landscape. The timeframe of the topic spans the period from the reforms introduced at the Age of Enlightenment at the end of the 18th century till today. The field research focused on the study of urban, architectural and heritage qualities of cemeteries while taking their stonemason and vegetation components into consideration. This was followed by analysis of cartographic and iconographic sources mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries based on which it was possible to reconstruct the ideal look of cemeteries whose appearance changed significantly after the expulsion of Germans. There is a large set of documents that comprises information about the dramatic character and the scope of the changes. Based on the obtained knowledge we can say that cemeteries in Lower Silesia have been specific historical landscapes which are real sites of memory.

The article presents a selected base of cartographic sources enabling analyses on Josephine settlements in the Austrian partition from the late 18th century to 1939. The purpose of the article is to present the cartographic source base on Josephine colonization collected in Poland and Ukraine. The research covered all settlements created during the Josephine colonization (1781–1789). The text discusses cartographic source materials (available on-site and online) acquired through queries. The analyses included village plans, large-scale maps of Galicia, the Galician cadastre (Austrian land cadastre) and maps from the interwar period.

The study introduces the modern history of the Bon Repos hunting lodge near Lysá nad Labem in the context of changing attitude to the preservation of broader premises of cultural sights. The research covered the time from the first land reform till the current adaptation. Based on an analysis of cartographic and iconographic sources from the 20th and 21st centuries the author was able to describe the development of one of the most significant sights owned by the Sporck family while using the method of comparative and oral history.

W ostatnich latach oberwany jest wzrost zainteresowania problematyką badawczą z pogranicza geografii i historii, tzw. geohistoria. Przedmiotem analiz są m.in. zmiany użytkowania terenu, dynamika procesów przyrodniczych czy krajobrazowe następstwa hydro-meteorologicznych zjawisk ekstremalnych w czasach historycznych. Analiza map dawnych służy pozyskaniu informacji o rozwoju regionu, (infrastrukturalnym, urbanistycznym, osadniczym itd.). GIS historyczny (hGIS) wykorzystuje mapę jako podstawę informacji, natomiast jako narzędzie jej przetwarzania – specjalistyczne oprogramowanie komputerowe. Nie wszystkie mapy historyczne są jednakowo przydatne. Dlatego celem niniejszego opracowania jest analiza wiarygodności wybranych opracowań kartograficznych dotyczących ziem polskich. Przeprowadzono analizę 14 map Wyżyny Częstochowskiej i jej obrzeży z lat 1685-1984. Oceniano m.in.: dokładność treści map, zgodność czasu opracowania, poprawność historyczną treści mapy, ocenę wartości i wiarygodności.

Recent years have seen increased interest in research areas overlapping geography and history, so-called geohistory. The subject matter for research includes changes in land use, dynamics of natural processes, or consequences of hydro-meteorological phenomena in the history on landscape. Analyses of historical maps make it possible to collect information regarding development of a region in terms of infrastructure, urban growth, settlement, etc. Historical GIS (hGIS) uses maps for basic information and specialist software as a tool for processing this information. Not all historical maps are equally useful, and that is why this paper aims to analyze reliability of selected cartographic materials regarding Polish territories. The analyses concerned 14 maps of the Częstochowa Upland and its peripheries from years 1685-1984. The factors that were assessed included accuracy of the map contents, correct creation date of the map, historical precision of the map contents, and assessment of its importance and reliability.
