The head is an important element of the biokinetic chain. Under physiological conditions, it should extend along the midline of the body. Due to its location and the fact that it constitutes approx. 6% of the total body weight, many authors believe it has a significant impact on its functioning. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic literature search and to synthesize the evidence of the impact of the head posture on the functioning of the human body. A systematic review was conducted within 3 databases: PubMed, Medline OVID, and EBSCO, using the following terms: “forward head,” “posture,” “position,” and “neck.” For the analysis, scientific articles published after 2013 were selected. A total of 16 studies matched the inclusion criteria of this systematic review. Their results have proven that the position of the head has a significant effect on the human body. Research findings show that abnormal head position changes affect muscle activity, proprioception, the pattern of breathing and neck pain. This is the first systematic review of the relationship between the head posture, and the functioning of the human body. The results of this study seem to be promising if used in therapeutic practice.

ObjectivesVestibular rehabilitation leads to a gradual diminution of the subjective and objective symptoms that accompany the vestibular disorders. The aim of the study was to compare the impact of 2 different types of vestibular rehabilitation on vestibular compensation in patients with chronic unilateral vestibular dysfunction.Material and MethodsThe study was conducted on a group of 58 subjects (43 females and 15 males) aged 40–64 years, who presented with chronic unilateral vestibular dysfunction and were hospitalized. The patients were randomly assigned to either of the 2 groups established. The study was conducted in a 6-week period. Group 1 consisted of patients who underwent customized group vestibular rehabilitation in an outpatient setting. The program was performed once a week for 1 h 30 min, under the supervision of a physiotherapist and a physiatrist. Group 2 was instructed to perform Cawthorne–Cooksey exercises and simple balance exercises twice a day for 15 min.ResultsAn improvement in the outcomes of the Dynamic Gait Index as well as the Berg Balance Scale was statistically significant for group 1. The time for fulfilling the task in the Timed Up and Go Test improved in both groups (p < 0.05). The subjective estimation of the symptoms evaluated with the use of the Dizziness Handicap Inventory and the Visual Analogue Scale revealed a statistically significant improvement in both groups, yet it was higher in group 1.ConclusionsThe compensation achieved after 6 weeks of the customized, supervised outpatient rehabilitation program in group 1 was superior to the results of the home-based unsupervised Cawthorne–Cooksey and balance exercises.

Dlatego daje to możliwość określenia celów usprawniania i zaplanowanie kompleksowej, celowej i ciągłej fizjoterapii. W pracy przedstawiono badania przedmiotowe oraz fizjoterapię chorych ze stwardnieniem rozsianym.

The indications for physical therapy in multiple sclerosis (SM) patients are very wide. They result of variety of symptoms and several disorders, duration of the desease and its progress. The first step in complex treatment the disease is proper subjective and physical examination. Thus it is possible to design proper rehabilitation and to plan the complex physiotherapy. The aim of this work is to introduce physical exercises, which are very important in the short- and longtime treatment of patients with SM.

W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki pracy dyplomowej inżynierskiej.

The aim of the work was to develop a system for monitoring imbalances. The proposed system can be used both for the diagnosis and rehabilitation of balance disorders. The system can read acceleration data from the two measuring axes of the MPU6050 sensors and then convert them to percentages. The data processed in this way is sent to the developed mobile application via the Bluetooth protocol. The doctor or physiotherapist can analyze the research on the basis of the data collected in the table or visualization. The collected data is stored in the cloud and then displayed on charts in the application. In the presentation work, the results of the engineer diploma thesis.
