In the case of the gate-valve cut-off, in a very long transmission pipelines, considerable pressure overshoots are observed accompanying the gas flow impacts, caused as well by shock wave as by reflected one. The main factor, influencing the shock wave amplitude, is the velocity of gate-valve closing, determined by the servomotor-time-constant Ti. Because of possible variations of chemical constitution of gas transported through the pipeline - which renders physical, chemical and thermodynamic properties changes, it is necessary to examine theirs degree of influence on the processes of dynamic impact.

The paper presents simulation investigations of influence of gas turbine controller adjuŹstment on ship propulsion system operating in heavy sea conditions, based on the model presented in Part 1 of the paper. The ship propulsion system with two gas turbines driŹving - through mechanical gear - ship controllable pitch propeller, described in Part 1, was used to analysis. The harmonic disturbances due to sea waves with selected frequencies were used as input function in computing the system’s amplitude characteristics at different settings of P and PD controllers.

The paper presents efficiency analysis of the water treatment controlling system. Introduction sets forth issues concerning this process, various options of its realization depending on the water origin and purpose of its use. Measures were taken within experimental research in the water treatment station and it included: measures of the size of water uptake in pH function, chlorine content and absolute conductivity. Then, correlations between particular examined parameters were determined and necessity of including them in the automatic control process was indicated. Mathematical models in the form of regression equations, which enable optimal performance of the water treatment process were developed.

Przedstawiono analizę skuteczności systemu sterowania procesem uzdatniania wody. We wstępie wskazano na problematykę tego procesu, przedstawiono różne warianty jego realizacji w zależności od pochodzenia i przeznaczenia wody. W ramach badań doświadczalnych wykonano pomiary w stacji uzdatniania wody, na które składały się pomiary: wielkości poboru wody w funkcji pH, zawartości chloru, przewodności bezwzględnej. Następnie określono korelacje pomiędzy poszczególnymi badanymi parametrami i wskazano konieczność uwzględnienia ich w procesie automatycznego sterowania. Na podstawie analizy opracowano modele matematyczne w formie równań regresji, umożliwiające optymalne prowadzenie procesu uzdatniania wody.

The presented study contains a sample of utilization of the control laws treated as kinematic relations of parameter deviations and realized in the process of ordered automatic control of a manipulating machine. Movement of the grasping end is considered in an inertial reference standard rigidly joined with an immobile working environment of the manipulator. The specificity of the control’s choice required creating program relations constituting the ordered parameters describing the movement of the manipulator’s elements. During work, the ordered parameters are compared to the parameters realized in the process of the grasping end’s work. This was deviations are determined, which thanks to properly prepared control laws are leveled by the manipulator’s control executive system.

In order to calibrate the stripe precision of a leveling rod, an automatic laser interferometer and a vision measurement system were designed by Xi’an University of Technology in China. The rod was driven by a closed-loop control and the data were collected at the stop state to ensure precision. The laser interferometer provided not only the long distance data but also a position feedback signal in the automatic control loop. CCD camera and a vision measurement method were used to inspect the stripe edge position and defect. Apixel-equivalent self-calibration method was designed to improve precision. ROI (regions of interest) method and an outline tracing method were designed to quickly extract multiple stripe edges. A combination of the image data with the interferometer data reduces control difficulty and ensures the measurement accuracy. The vision measurement method reached sub-pixel precision and the defective edges were reported. The system can automatically calibrate a stripe leveling rod with a high degree of efficiency and precision.

W artykule przedstawiono mozliwość budowania systemów pomiarowych dla celów przemysłowych i laboratoryjnych w oparciu o multimetr cyfrowy DM21 i współpracujące z nim oprogramowanie wizualizacyjne METROL 21. Omówiono parametry techniczne multimetru i zestaw jego funkcji pomiarowych. Przedstawiono też strukturę i funkcje środowiska programowego zapewniającego automatyzację pomiaru za pomocą multimetru. Wskazano, że zastosowanie oprogramowania dedykowanego dla przyrządów pomiarowych rozszerza ich parametry funkcjonalne oraz umożliwia automatyzację pomiarów. Dzieki takim rozwiązaniom technicznym ułatwiona jest również akwizycja danych pomiarowych z obiektu dla innych użytkowników w systemie.

The paper describes structure and functions of environment programmatic assuring automatization of measurement. The software dedicated for measuring devices widens their functional parameters and makes possible automatization of measurements. The paper presents a developed station for receiving satellite signals in the K band, with particular emphasis on the design and alignment of the antenna in the Cassegrain system.

Thickeners are process units that are often used at mining enterprises. There, they are involved in dehydration of mineral con-centration products when water is removed from wet tailings containing metal concentrates. In mineral processing, large quantities of process water are used to separate different minerals from each other, so dehydration plays a major role in ore processing and preparation for concentration. This research aims to develop methods and tools of ultrasonic measurement of characteristics of settlement of solid-phase slurry particles and to assess their possible application to the automatic control system of the thickener to improve its efficiency.

The study considers the basic trends of development of modern mechanical transmissions of trucks and buses. It provides the developed various series of multispeed transmissions with automatic control and a number of transmissions from 6 to 16 for trucks and buses. The paper shows the basic parameters of the standard series of new transmissions received on the basis of innovative technical solutions. It provides the results of experimental studies of 16-speed transmissions on a special test stand and on the road as part of a truck transmission. Theoretical and experimental data on the gear change time are compared.

This article presents properties of a follow-up system executing ship’s rudder deflection using a constant delivery hydraulic pump. Furthermore, a solution is discussed which increases static and dynamic accuracy of such a system using the rudder angular velocity signal. This signal has been used for changing the level of a three-position controller insensitivity. The paper also shows the method of determination of the function describing variations of dead-zone width of the three-point controller. Two kinds of such function are shown, namely linear and quadratic. A computer model was prepared in MATLAB-Simulink environment, showing the operation of the system with correction of error signal, which carries out given by function variations of points of switching. Also included are the simulation results of the described solution, indicating a significant enhancement of accuracy of rudder angle control process for the steady state as well as during transients.

This article presents the problem of overloading of the steering gear controlled by an autopilot in high sea states and ways of reducing it. The author proposes a new method of estimating the steering gear load by counting the number of machine reversals in a selected time period. A block diagram of such solution is presented along with the results of simulations of system operation in different sea states. The results obtained, in terms of number of reversals, depend significantly on the state of sea, providing a means to estimate the current state of the sea as well as the expected difficulty in exploiting the steering gear.

Water is widely used in the mining industry, particularly in mineral enrichment processes. In the process of magnetic separation or flotation of crushed ore, a concentrate (an enriched product), and tailings (a product with a low content of a useful component) are obtained. One of the main tasks of enrichment processes is the efficient use of water resources. This is achieved by reclaiming and subsequent reusing water contained in ore beneficiation products by extracting it in industrial thickeners. Optimizing this process makes it possible to reduce water usage in the mining industry, reduce costs of mineral enrichment processes, and address extremely urgent environmental protection problems. To evaluate the process of sedimentation of the solid phase in the pulp within the thickener, measurements of parameters of longitudinal ultrasonic oscillations and Lamb waves that have traveled a fixed distance in the pulp and along the measuring surface in contact with it are used. The proposed approach allows for the consideration of pulp density, particle size of the solid phase in the ore material and the dynamics of changes in these parameters in the thickener at the initial stage of the sedimentation process. Based on the obtained values, adjustments can be made to the characteristics of its initial product, leading to reduced water usage and minimized loss of a useful component.

The article presents a concept of an automatic directional control system for a General Aviation class aircraft during the taxiing phase. In particular, it shows the concept of the system and the control laws synthesis – mathematical model and simulation of taxiing aircraft. Several reasons have emerged in recent years that make the automation of taxiing an important design challenge including decreased safety, performance and pilot workload. The adapted methodology follows the model based design approach in which the control system and the aircraft are mathematically modelled to allow control laws synthesis using the Adaptive Disturbance Rejection Control method. The computer simulations are carried out to analyze the control system behavior. Chosen methodology and modelling technique, especially tire-ground contact model, resulted in a taxing aircraft model that can be used for directional control law synthesis. Aerodynamic forces and moments were identified in the wind tunnel tests for the full range of the slip angle. The results can be used for the preliminary performance assessment of the ADRC method applied in the taxi directional control system. Such system has not been introduced to General Aviation yet. Therefore, the model of taxiing aircraft including aerodynamic characteristics for the full range of the slip angle and a directional control system have a big value in the process of design and implementation of the future automatic taxi systems.
