Higher education institutions of the 21st century face many previously unknown challenges. These include: marketization, massification and accountability. They have become the buzzwords of today’s academia. Teaching the entrepreneurial skills, required by the job market, cannot be reduced to traditional in-class lectures and seminars. The necessary interpersonal relations can be facilitated by cooperation with alumni as sociations, as exemplified the United States. Thus the network of en gaged alumni becomes a great asset of every college and university.

Uczelnie XXI wieku muszą się zmierzyć z wieloma wcześniej nie znanymi wyzwaniami, takimi jak: urynkowienie, umasowienie czy rozli czalność. Nauczanie przedsiębiorczości, niezbędnej na współczesnym rynku pracy, nie może się ograniczyć jedynie do tradycyjnych wykładów i ćwiczeń. Niezbędne są relacje interpresonalne, dla których doskona łym forum są stowarzyszenia absolwentów, o czym świadczy przykład Stanów Zjednoczonych. I dlatego sieć zaangażowanych absolwentów staje się w dzisiejszych czasach ogromnym atutem uczelni.

Początków systematycznej formacji alumnów przez Misjonarzy Werbistów w Polsce należy szukać w Chludowie k. Poznania. W tamtejszym Domu misyjnym św. Stanisława Kostki we wrześniu 1936 r. rozpoczęli studia filozofii pierwsi klerycy. W maju 1939 r. dom ten został oficjalnie zaaprobowany jako Seminarium Duchowne. Wojna przekreśliła te i inne plany, ale nie do końca. We wrześniu 1945 r. rozpoczęło w Chludowie rok akademicki 13 kleryków, pod opieką o. Jana Chodzidły – rektora, profesora i proboszcza w jednej osobie. W 1948 r. Wyższe Seminarium Duchowne zostało przeniesione z Chludowa do Pieniężna. W historii pieniężnieńskiego Seminarium obok systematycznej formacji duchowej i filozoficzno-teologicznej alumnów, zwracamy uwagę m.in. na następujące fakty: powstanie Apostolatu Misyjnego (1957); założenie czasopism – „Verbinum” (1957), „Biuletyn Misyjny” (1965), „Nurt SVD” (1967); powstanie serii wydawniczej Materiały i Studia Księży Werbistów (1972); publikacja książek głównie o tematyce misyjnej i religioznawczej. Seminarium organizuje Sympozja Misyjne dla Kleryków (od 1967), Sesje Misjologiczne, Pieniężnieńskie Spotkania z Religiami. W 1995 r. powstaje przy Seminarium Kolegium Teologiczne dla Laikatu. W 2000 r. dokonano afiliacji Misyjnego Seminarium Duchownego Księży Werbistów do Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Warmińsko-Mazurskiego w Olsztynie.

The beginnings of the systematic formation of students by the Divine Word Missionaries in Poland can be found in Chludowo near Poznań. In September 1936 in the local missionary house of St. Stanisław Kostka the first seminarians began their studies of philosophy. In May 1939 the house was officially approved as a theological seminary. The war shattered these and other plans, but not entirely. In September 1945 13 seminarians began the academic year in Chludowo, under the supervision of Father Jan Chodzidło – the rector, professor and parish priest in one person. In 1948 the Higher Theological Seminary was moved from Chludowo to Pieniężno. In the history of the Seminary in Pieniężno, apart from the systematic spiritual and philosophical-theological formation of students, we note, among others, on the following facts: the foundation of the Missionary Apostolate (1957); establishment of journals - Verbinum (1957), Mission Newsletter (1965), Nurt SVD (1967); beginning of the publishing series Materials and Studies of Divine Word Missionaries (1972); publication of books mainly on mission and religious studies. The seminary organizes Mission Symposia for Seminarians (since 1967), Missionary Sessions, and Pieniężno’s Meetings with Religions. In 1995, a Theological College for the Laity was established at the Seminary. In 2000 the Divine Word Missionaries Seminary was affiliated to the Faculty of Theology at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

The article is an analysis of oral history accounts made by clergymen during their obligatory military service in the late 70s, which was a part of repressive policy of the state towards the Catholic Church. The accounts concentrate on experiences in the army, highlighting attempts at structuring and rationalizing the experience of military service. Moreover three characteristic themes seem to be important in the narrations: moment of departure to the army unit, everyday life in barracks and discharge from the army.

Artykuł jest analizą relacji historii mówionej polskich duchownych, którzy pod koniec lat 70. XX w. odbyli obowiązkową służbę wojskową, będącą elementem represyjnej polityki państwa wobec Kościoła katolickiego. Opowieści koncentrują się na doświadczeniach z wojska i są próbą strukturyzacji i racjonalizacji doświadczenia służby wojskowej. W relacjach przewijają się trzy charakterystyczne wątki: moment wyjścia do jednostki wojskowej, codzienność w koszarach i zwolnienie z wojska.

The preamble of National Core Curriculum for Basic Education in Poland presents main aims, for example guiding to the values, teaching skills of communication, active participating in culture. However, the analysis of the part devoted to the subject of Polish tongue and culture shows there is contradiction between declaration and strict requirements. The created by Curriculum pupil who ends the education at the Polish primary school mainly is an expert equipped in opulent knowledge on language and literature, not skilled and responsible user of communication and participant in culture. As an opposed model, we can present the Finnish National Curriculum where knowledge is subordinated to practical skill.
