The topic of the article is the issue of military assistance provided in the course of executions of court judgments. Due to the fact that the Sejm was the legislative body of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the paper discusses the course of parliamentary debates concerning this issue during the reign of Stanisław II August Poniatowski. The article presents the enacted parliamentary constitutions, royal projects, and analyzes thedeputies’ speeches. Moreover, it delineates the process of changes in the Enlightenment, which resulted in bringing order to the issue of sending soldiers on the so-called “tradition.”

Tematem artykułu jest problem pomocy wojskowej udzielanej w trakcie egzekucji wyroków sądowych. Z racji tego, że organem prawodawczym w Rzeczpospolitej był Sejm, autor omówił przebieg debat sejmowych dotyczących tego problemu w latach panowania Stanisława Augusta. Przedstawił uchwalone konstytucje sejmowe, projekty królewskie oraz przeanalizował wystąpienia posłów. Omówił proces oświeceniowych zmian, które doprowadziły do uporządkowania problemu wysyłania żołnierzy na tzw. tradycję.

Sposób, w jaki Arendt wplata wydarzenia historyczne w filozofię polityczną, jest bodaj najbardziej oczywistym dowodem oryginalności jej myślenia. Autor dowodzi związku, jaki Arendt ustanawia w swej refleksji pomiędzy faktami a uwarunkowaniami ludzkiej egzystencji. Jego przejawem jest z jednej strony modelowanie rozumienia wspomnianych uwarunkowań poprzez fakty, z drugiej interpretowanie faktów w świetle uwarunkowań ludzkiej egzystencji. Wspomniana relacja kształtuje się od rozprawy doktorskiej pt. Pojęcie miłości u Augustyna. Arendt przeciwstawia sobie uwarunkowania życia i spekulatywne idee, których znaczenie redukuje, uznając za źródło nieprawomocnych twierdzeń dotyczących natury ludzkiej. W ten sposób waloryzuje fakty w analizach uwarunkowań ludzkiego życia. Wydźwięk tej argumentacji pogłębia charakterystyczna dla późniejszego okresu opozycja filozofii i nauki. Wydarzeniom powoływanym do życia logiką totalitarnego panowania Arendt przeciwstawia detaliczne fakty zaczerpnięte z jednostkowego życia uczestników bądź świadków wydarzeń. Wymykają się one wyjaśnieniu w ramach jednej logiki wyda rzeń (absolutnej logiki wydarzeń), mimo że miały miejsce w rzeczywistości, która jest na niej oparta. Arendt dystansuje od siebie odmienne formy spojrzenia na fakty: własne spojrzenie, którego nici zmierzają do uwarunkowań życia, oraz fakty powoływane do życia logiką totalitaryzmu, który pochłania jednostkowe losy.

The article begins with elements of the idealistic philosophy of participation. The introduction includes both Plato’s thought regarding the possibility of participating in the world of ideas and the concepts of being (including the Absolute Being), acting and existence of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Finally, the notion of religious faith in participating in God’s truth and love is discussed. The examples of works by Janusz Orbitowski, Grzegorz Sztabiński, Mirosław Bałka, Sebastian Wywiórski and Zbigniew Libera are described then as contemporary artistic attempts to participate in the metaphysical reality. The participation not only occurs thanks to the very metaphysical nature of art, but it is also the content and theme of works. Artists address the issues of being, essence, act, ideal pattern, the idea of writing, eternity, love relationship as participation in the idea of the Good. The poetic use of symbols and paradoxes also serves to relate to metaphysics. It is precisely poetics that is ultimately indicated as a way of participating in the metaphysical reality clearly present in contemporary visual arts.

Tekst rozpoczyna wprowadzenie w idealistyczną filozofię partycypacji. Zawiera ono przypomnienie o myśli Platona dotyczącej możliwości uczestniczenia w świecie idei, o koncepcjach bytu (w tym Bytu Absolutnego), aktu i egzystencji w filozofii Św. Tomasza z Akwinu oraz o religijnej wierze w uczestniczenie w prawdzie i miłości Boga. Opisane dalej przykłady dzieł Janusza Orbitowskiego, Grzegorza Sztabińskiego, Mirosława Bałki, Sebastiana Wywiórskiego * i Zbigniewa Libery zinterpretowane zostają jako współczesne próby artystycznego uczestniczenia w rzeczywistości metafizycznej. Dzieje się to przez samą metafizyczność sztuki oraz przez podejmowanie w treści i formie dzieł zagadnień bytu, esencji, akt, idealnego wzoru, idei pisma, wieczności, relacji miłosnej jako uczestniczenia w idei Dobra. Relacji z metafizyką służy także poetyckie wykorzystanie symbolu i paradoksu. Właśnie poetyckość zostaje ostatecznie wskazana jako sposób partycypowania w rzeczywistości metafizycznej wyraźnie obecny we współczesnych sztukach wizualnych.

Both ancient and medieval world picture in philosophy reflected the world picture in natural sciences of the time. Consequently, our contemporary metaphysical world picture should correspond to that in modern science. In the article Albert Mitterer’s and Tadeusz Wojciechowski’s Concepts of the Interdependence of Matter and Motion there has been an outline presented of such picture, based on the ideas of the title scholars. In this article an attempt has been made to draw metaphysical consequences from their concepts of constitutional motion and particle act in reference to inanimate mattter, vegetative, sensitive and rational beings as well as The Prime Being.

Text De ente et essentia was written together with "De principis naturae" in Thomas’ first years of teaching activities and accounted philosophical “exercises” for the brothers at the convent of St. James in Paris. There is commonly noted, that Aquinas had already established the most important theses of his philosophy, the existential metaphysics of being above all, in which the act was the existence of this being, and the form with the matter constituted its essence. In this situation, the source of all existence, God appeared as only existence. Analysis of existential themes in "De ente et essentia" confirms these opinions. In later texts, especially in the "Summa Contra Gentiles", "Summa theologiae" and "Quaestiones disputatae", Thomas deepens his concepts; he introduces extended topic of transcendentals - property of being which manifest its existence. However, the bulk of his existential metaphysics of existence has been outlined already in "De ente et essentia", and it was never corrected in the basic theses.
