This paper describes influence of crude oil pollution on values of the absorption coefficient of the natural seawater in the period from April 15th to November 15th. The variability in the absorption spectra of natural seawater is estimated on the basis of investigations of seasonal changes in the chlorophyll concentration in the Pomeranian Bay during the period 1994-1996. The occurrence of crude oil pollution is taken into account by modifying the time-variable absorption coefficient of the seawater - crude oil system. Numerical simulations have been carried out for seawater polluted with two types of crude oil: Baltic and Gulffax. Experimentally obtained, optical parameters of both types of crude oil as well as changes of these parameters in the spring-summer season have been used for calculations.

In the present paper there was applied a catalogue of circulations types according to J. Lityński as well as data concerning ice conditions, like the number of days with ice (L), length of ice season (S) and maximum thickness of ice (H) for Świnoujście-sea and Kołobrzeg-sea for winters within 1950/51 - 1989/90. For one month's and several months winter periods the selected circulation types were correlated to the accepted parameters of ice conditions. Equations of linear regression as well as polynomial of the second degree were applied. The statistical significance of relationships was determined with the aid of Fisher-Snedecor's (F) significance test. There was found, that on the number of days with ice (L), length of ice season (S) and maximum height of ice (H) affect mostly the anticyclonic and zero circulation types of eastern component (NE a,o + E a,o), as well as cyclonic and zero circulation types of western component (SW c,o + W c,o + NW c,o). The highest values of correlation coefficient for these directions were obtained in the period from December to February, while relatively high also for December only, what points some prognostic value. For earlier months, in principle, no significant relationships were found. More significant relationship occurred in the of Świnoujście when compared to Kołobrzeg, the highest for maximum thickness of ice (H) and the number of days with ice (L).

The work presents the results of studies on the influence of circulation conditions on variability of water temperature at the southern toast of the Pomeranian Bay. In order to resolve the problem mean daily water temperature values as measured at Międzyzdroje and Gozdowice as well as mean air temperature values at Świnoujście were analysed under different circulation conditions to obtain statistical relations between them. Simple and multiple regression analyses were performed. The period 1971-1980 u taken into the examination. In the ten year period 1971-1980 the air circulation coming from the east sector was prevailing from February to July and coming from the west sector was prevailing from August to January. For these two periods the highly statistically significant coefficients of correlation between water temperature as measured at Międzyzdroje a Gozdowice as well as air temperature at Świnoujście made possible to describe inshore water temperature using the equations of simple and multiple regression. As the highly statistically significant coefficients of correlation were also obtained for the periods different types of air circulation so for all these periods the equations of simple a multiple regression were also written. The multiple regression equations show that the influence of water temperature the Odra River on inshore water temperature was stronger than the influence of air temperature, especially during the periods of air circulation coming from south-west north-west directions. The effect of air temperature was the strongest when the circulation from north-east was recorded. In that case the influence of water temperature of the Odra was decreased.

Water temperature at the southern coast of the Pomeranian Bay is formed under changeable meteorological conditions , river input and salt water flow from the North Sea. The summing of these factors determines the great variability of water temperature during the year. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of air temperature and thermic conditions of the Odra River on thermic variability of coastal water zone of the Pomeranian Bay. To mange to resolve that problem first simple statistical analysis of water and air temperature distributions was applied. Then regression analysis between water temperature at the southern coast of the Pomeranian Bay (Międzyzdroje), water temperature of the Odra River (Gozdowice) and air temperature (Świnoujście) was performed. Statistical characteristics of temperature distributions showed the great similarity. The distribution of water temperature in Międzyzdroje is more similar to water temperature in Gozdowice than to air temperature in Świnoujście. Basing on cross-correlation function, simple and multiple regression analysis there were found statistically significant relations between water temperature at the southern coast of the Pomeranian Bay (Międzzdroje), water temperature of the Odra River (Gozdowice) and air temperature (Świnoujście). Water temperature in Międzyzdroje obtained from regression analysis is in good agreement with in situ data. Calculated statistical characteristics, correlation coefficients, as well as simple and multiple regression equations suggest that the thermic conditions of the Odra River play the most important role in forming of the thermic conditions at the coastal zone of the Pomeranian Bay. Buy the role of air temperature is also very significant.
