The article is devoted to the psychological functions of remarks in Alexander Vampilov’s drama. The playwright is interested in the underlying mechanisms of human behavior. Conscious and unconscious impulses of the characters appear in stage directions such as “silence,” “Pause,” etc. The playwright would like to understand the state of mind of the character, his values , his position. The character experiences the world around him. The socio-psychological drama of the 19th century (primarily Anton Chekhov’s drama) reconnects to Vampilov’s plays.
