Content available remote Thysanoptera community of midfield shelterbelts of different age
100%
EN
The density and species composition of Thysanoptera were estimated in three shelterbelts with different age located in arable land (Turew area, West Poland). It was stated, that 100 years old shelterbelts supply favorable habitats for the community of these insects: the occurrence of species connected closely with the shelterbelt and the stable species composition were found there. In the young shelterbelt (two years after planting). Thysanoptera constituted a community dynamically changing. In several (7-8) years old shelterbelt the community of these insects showed the features characteristic for community noted in 100 years old shelterbelt.

Studies were carried out on Thysanoptera of Roztocze. From 1987-1989 63 species were recorded, among them two species new to the Polish fauna: Pelikanothrips kratochvili and Thrips fulvipes.

Thysanoptera are an order of insects, which are common in different environments. Among them a group of species growing on cultivated cereal crops and grasses was distinguished. Increasing of the cereals in cropping and soft climate conditions during last years maybe favourable factors for increasing of Thysanoptera abundance. That is why these phytophagous insects can influence the yields more and more. The results of previous research are ambiguous and show that the estimation of crop losses caused by Thysanoptera needs further complex studies.

New records of 38 thrips species occurring in the Sudety Mts. are presented. The data about their host plants are added. The most interesting species were as follows: Chirothrips ruptipennis, Haplothrips statices and Thrips roepkei which have been recorded for the first time in Polish mountains.

Among the thrips species feeding on pea plants, the most numerous were: Thrips fuscipennis – occurring on green parts of plants and flowers, Frankliniella intonsa – occurring on flowers and a polyphagous species Thrips tabaci. These species were observed on pea plants from the first decade of May to the end of harvest. The greatest number of thrips was recorded in the first decade of June. Among the recoded species Aeolothrips intermedius was also numerous. This species is a zoophagous however, its larvae can prick and suck plant tissues, especially flowers.

A list of 106 species of Thysanoptera so far collected in Silesian-Cracow Upland is given with some comments on the species.
