The focus of this article is to describe how the press of Tajikistan was established and developed until the modern era. During the authors’ fieldwork in the Republic of Tajikistan, the evolution of the role of the Tajik written media in the historical context was researched, with a special focus on the development of the press at the beginning of the 1990s. During this period, called the “golden era” of Tajik journalism, a great variety of independent, politically and culturally involved titles were published, but this soon came to an end after the outbreak of the civil war.

The role of a Tajik woman had been impacted by two contrasting factors. On the one hand, the Soviet period created equal citizens that “knew no gender or social class”. Women were provided identical access to education, health care and a right to work professionally outside of home as men. The traditional Tajik culture, however, regarded woman as a center of the family home, installed in the private sphere, exclusively caring for the children and the household. Position of women in contemporary Tajikistan depends largely on the influence of geographical and cultural factors as well as religious traditions and deeply rooted mentality. The processes of transformation are at full speed, but the time needed to provide education, overcome poverty and the traditional gender role stereotype may be longer-lasting than in other nations with less culturally rooted customary roles.Full text: http://bazhum.muzhp.pl/czasopismo/589/?idno=14762

The article describes the role of the press in constructing the cultural strategies of war on the example from the conflict in the Republic of Tajikistan (1992-1997). On the basis of qualitative analysis newspapers published in Russian and Tajik we present one of these strategies - the efforts of the key factions of the conflict (the post-communists, the democratic opposition, the Islamic opposition) to convince Tajik society to a certain, designated vision of a new, independent Tajikistan.

Zapoznanie się z tematyką umożliwiło postawienie następujących pytań badawczych: 1) Czy wybrane państwa Azji Centralnej wykazują predestynację do prowadzenia niezależnej polityki wobec problemu afgańskiego? Zebrane materiały w postaci oficjalnych komunikatów rządowych i informacji prasowych zapewniły klucz do przeanalizowania wyselekcjonowanych działań organów państwowych w sytuacji wzrostu zagrożenia, prześledzenia prób poszerzenia współpracy z podmiotami prawa międzynarodowego rozumianymi jako państwa i organizacje międzynarodowe. Naświetlając kwestie utrzymania porządku wewnętrznego, niemożliwe było pominięcie zagadnienia potencjału militarnego państwa, wpływającego na proces planowania strategii bezpieczeństwa. Głównymi metodami badawczymi wykorzystanymi podczas tworzenia artykułu były: synteza poprzez kojarzenie przyczynowe, analogia, indukcja i dedukcja.

This article aims to introduce the activities of selected Central Asian countries – having a direct border with Afghanistan, i.e. Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – to ensure security after the change of power in Kabul. Familiarisation with the subject matter made it possible to pose the following research questions: 1) Do the selected Central Asian states show predestination to pursue an independent policy towards the Afghan problem? 2) Has the Taliban’s seizure of control of the country been reflected in the strengthening of the position of China, the United States and Russia in the region? 3) ) Has the Taliban’s seizure of control of the country been reflected in the strengthening of the position of China, the United States and Russia in the region?? The collected materials in the form of official government communiqués and press releases provided the key to analyzing the selected actions of state bodies in the situation of increasing threat, tracing the attempts to expand cooperation with subjects of international law understood as states and international organizations. While highlighting the issues of maintaining internal order, it was impossible to omit the issue of the military potential of the state, influencing the security strategy planning process. The main research methods used while creating the article were: synthesis through causal association, analogy, induction and deduction.

The aim of this study was to identify cyanobacteria diversity in rock communities from the cold desert ecosystem in Eastern Pamir Mountains (Tajikistan) and assess if the rock type and rock`s porosity can be indicators of microbial diversity in this extreme environment. Seven samples were collected in July 2015 from hillsides (ca 4000–4500 m a.s.l.) of the Eastern Pamir Mountains. Petrographic and scanning microscopy (SEM) allowed for the characterization of the rocks inhabited by endolithic communities as granite, gneiss and limestone with variable porosity. Based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) of amplicon of V3–V4 hypervariable region of 16S rRNA gene, we established that Actinobacteria,Proteobacteria and Cyanobacteria dominated the endolithic communities of microorganisms in the rocks studied, which distinguishes these communities from those described for other cold arid regions. Chroococcidiopsis and Leptolyngbya were dominant genera in the cyanobacterial communities according to culture-dependent analysis, as well as microscopic analyses of endoliths scraps from the rocks. Culture-independent metagenomic analyses revealed that Microcoleus, Acaryochloris, Chroococcidiopsis and Thermosynechococcus reads were the most abundant from all reads and dominated interchangeably in the samples. Endolithic communities of microorganisms in the rocks from the cold desert shrubland of Eastern Pamir Mts. appear to be diverse and different from communities described for other cold deserts.

Furcophyllia is an unusual coral with septa regularly splitting into branching sets called septal brooms. This pattern of septal apparatus is so alien to scleractinians, that, despite a trabecular microstructure of septa resembling that of the Scleractinia, the genus was originally ascribed to a rare group of corals informally referred to as sleractiniamorphs, previously known from the Ordovician and Permian. Genus Furcophyllia emerged together with corals of several groups, after the post−Permian crisis diversification of skeletonized anthozoans, some of them markedly differing in their skeletal features from typical Scleractinia. So far, the genus was represented by middle Carnian Furcophyllia septafindens from the Dolomites, in the Southern Alps. Here, we report Furcophyllia shaitanica sp. nov. from limestone boulders found in the volcano−clastic deposits of the upper Ladinian Šajtan suite of the South Eastern Pamirs. A new species of Furcophyllia signifies that the genus was a faunal element widely distributed in the Tethys.
