Artykuł jest próbą omówienia analizy SWOT (mocne/słabe strony, szanse/zagrożenia firmy), która jest podstawową czynnością procesu formułowania strategii firmy.

For the firm the process of working out the strategy of its activities is of significant importance. The realization of the strategy leads to the development of the firm and thus to its gaining a competitive advantage on the market for a fairly long time. The present paper is an attempt to discuss the SWOT method of analysis (analysis and evaluation of work /strong points of a firm, chances/ dangers from the outside) - the basic operation in the process of formulating the strategy of business activities. Further on, the paper presents the essence of the SWOT method of analysis, the procedures of its realization, and methods of using in when formulating the strategic goals. The suggestions included in the paper concerning the realization of the SWOT method should be used to a greater extent by Polish firm. (original abstract)

Celem artykułu jest zapoznanie z mało znanymi i w większości nie opisywanych do tej pory w polskiej literaturze koncepcji pomiaru wyników ekonomicznych. Stąd też zaprezentowano koncepcje pomiaru wyników opartą na systemie wielowskaźnikowym opracowaną w następujących przedsiębiorstwach: Ernst&Young, IBM Wielka Brytania, J.I. Case Agricultural Equipment Group, Caterpillar, Honeywell i na systemie jednowskaźnikowym opracowaną przez firmy Ernst&Young i Boston Consulting Group.

The article focuses on the performance measurement. It discusses significance of performance measurement in companies. The main objective of the paper is description and evaluation of less renown conceptions of performance measurement. There are presented following ideas of performance measurement: • performance measurement system of Ernst & Young Canada, • Business Management Window of IBM United Kingdom, • J.I. Case Agricultural Equipment Group, • performance measurement system of Caterpillar WLED division, • performance measurement system of Honeywell Micro Switch Division, . * Value Creation Index (VCI) of Ernst & Young, • Real Asset Value Enhancer (RAYE) of Boston Consulting Group. As a conclusion the author drafts the main tendencies of modern performance measurement as well as conditions that have to be fulfilled by management accounting system of a company in order to measure performance effectively.(original abstract)

Autor przedstawił koncepcję, która jego zdaniem może w znaczący sposób pomóc w umiejętnym wyszukiwaniu tych informacji, które mają kluczowe znaczenie dla funkcjonowania firmy. To cykl SAPE (sense-anticipate-prioritize-execute), który jest alternatywnym sposobom postępowania w zarządzaniu strategicznym. Autor omówił metodykę cyklu SAPE, czyli ocenił jego przydatności oraz przedstawił zastosowanie tej metody w praktyce na przykładzie firmy Korbank.

In the past a day and night had "as much as" 24 hours. Now it is "only" 24 hours. In so rushing world adopting the attitude of active looking forward аяА quick, almost immediate reacting to appearing opportunities and threats can turn out as a key to success which is reaching a permanent competitive advantage. That is SAPE cycle indeed, which lies in sensing circumstances, anticipating appearing opportunities and threats, determine priorities and realize (execute) them. But SAPE cycle is not only a conception of strategic management. Above all that is a way of thinking. In this article the author tries to show and explain that idea especially against (or rather with) classic strategic management and give some examples of using it in practice. (original abstract)

Islamskie finanse są coraz ważniejszym elementem światowego systemu finansowego. Ograniczenia stawiane przez religię uniemożliwiają stosowanie tradycyjnych instrumentów finansowych, w tym obligacji. Fakt ten wpłynął na potrzebę opracowania instrumentu podobnego w konstrukcji do tradycyjnych obligacji, jednakże zgodnego z zasadami islamu. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie konstrukcji, mechanizmu działania oraz odmienności sukuk jako alternatywnego źródła pozyskiwania kapitału. W artykule pokazano, że sukuk oferują wiele korzyści zarówno inwestorom, jak i emitentom. Różnorodność struktur opracowana przez AAOIFI umożliwia konstrukcję i emisję certyfikatów nie tylko na rynkach lokalnych, lecz także na rynku globalnym, gdzie pod różnymi reżimami politycznymi i podatkowymi mogą również oferować stały lub zmienny dochód. Mimo niezaprzeczalnych zalet tej formy pozyskiwania kapitału oraz jego szybkiego rozwoju przez analizę rynku sukuk można pokazać kilka problemów, które muszą zostać rozwiązane, aby ten instrument zyskał popularność i wiarygodność. Islamic Finance is becoming an integral part of the world's financial system. Due to various religious restrictions, the use of conventional financial instruments (involving for instance bonds) is forbidden. Hence, a need for the development of alternatives to traditional bonds that could be consistent with Islamic law has appeared. The main purpose of this article is to demonstrate the construction, mechanisms of action and distinctiveness of sukuk as an alternative source of capital. The article emphasizes, that sukuk can offer equal benefits for both investors and issuers. In response to the emergence of sukuk, various shariah standards has been released by the AAOIFI, which has enabled structuring and offering sukuk under different tax regimes not only nationally but also on a global scale. Despite undeniable advantages of this source of capital and its rapid growth, a detailed analysis of the sukuk market revealed a few obstacles, which must be tackled to raise its popularity and reliability.(original abstract)

Strategies play a significant role in the management of the development of an enterprise introducing to it an element of planing and rationality. A good strategy is characterized by the existence of agreement between three elements: environmental conditions, resources and adopted values. A lack of harmony between them is a source of problems and crises. Because of the changing nature of the environment in which they operate enterprises can adopt the strategy of adaptation or control. The former is aimed at adjustment while the latter means the initiation of favourable for the company changes in the environment. The SWOT matrix can be of significant help in the selection of potential strategies that may be adopted by an enterprise. It helps to order them taking into consideration the weak and strong points of an enterprise and the existing in the environment opportunities and threats. (original abstract)

Contemporary investor can choose among a lot of different markets and hundreds of financial instruments which allow him to gain profit. A wide range of charting tools accelerates the decision making process and automatically seeks for the best trading opportunities. In this article the investment strategies which are safe and easy to implement have been described. For example one can make arbitrage on Polish futures and cash market or use Buy and Hold strategy on the index options or on index WIG20. Moreover, there are suggestions of the methods of trading on the structurized instruments and special deals on share issues combined with taxation strategy. (original abstract)

Dochody ludności z agrobiznesu zmalały na skutek znacznego zmniejszenia zapotrzebowania na produkty żywnościowe, co z kolei przyczyniło się do ograniczenia rozmiarów produkcji surowców do wytwarzania żywności oraz samych produktów żywnościowych. Zmniejsza się także zaangażowanie czynników produkcji w agrobiznesie (siły roboczej, ziemi i kapitał). Autor zastanawia się, jakie działania należy podjąć, aby odwrócić ten niekorzystny trend przemian.

It is not justified to state that in the coming years there will be an increase in demand for food products in Poland. Since production capacity of agribusiness complex is not fully utilized there is a need to focus more closely on non-food business. The paper presents some examples of use of agricultural products to non-food needs. They were used seldom to time, what can cause an increased demand for them. Moreover, some of them (excluding materials for production of natural dyeing for food industry and pharmaceuticals) can be produced on poisoned soils, not usable for growing other plants. In the article the author presented a general vision of a traditional development and some consequences of its realization for the survival of economy and life. An attempt was undertaken at outlining an alternative strategy of the development of the power industry presenting possible technical solutions, naming conditions of their implementation and pointing out some consequences of using alternative sources of energy. The analysis was followed by a suggestion to increase the role of alternative strategy should be implemented and for this implementation Poland has got favourable conditions. One can project that the strategy will be beneficial for the Polish population, environment and economy.(original abstract)
