Scarabaeoid beetles (Scarabaeoidea) inhabit all zoogeographical regions of the world. However, coprophagy as the type of nutritional specialization dominates among the scarabaeoid beetles. The number of dung beetles (coprophagous Scarabaeoidea) is estimated at about 7,000 species. There are about 460 of dung beetles species in Europe, and about 90 of dung beetles species in Poland. Dung beetles can be endocoprids (dwellers), paracoprids (tunnelers) or telecoprids (rollers). Endocopric species lay eggs directly into the dung, paracropic species dig earth tunnels of various lengths ending with brooding chambers beneath the dung, and telecopric species separate a portion of dung and roll it into round balls which are then transported, sometimes far from the original source of the dung, to a place where the beetles dig tunnels ending with brooding chambers. Such a variety of methods of using faeces by dung beetles cause an accelerated circulation of nutrients, increased soil aeration, plant spreading, and a reduction in the number of parasites (flies and nematodes). Among dung beetles presently encountered in Poland there are endocopric and paracopric species.

The paper presents new localities of 4 species of Trogidae in Poland. The information in the paper was completed with historical material from the Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals in Cracow and comes from the private entomological collections. The species was collected from 14 regions.

The research was conducted between 1994 and 2004 on the area of the Krakow- Czestochowa Upland. Insects were collected using the floatation and baited trap methods. Based on the data from the Catalogue of Polish Fauna, it was determined that 63 species of coprofagous Scarabaeoidea occurred in the Upland between 1866 and 1983. The current research confirmed the presence of 36 species of coprofagous beetles. Of the 63 species found in the past, 26 species were not confirmed as present. It turned out that 13 species of this group were found between 1866 and 1910, but their presence in this area was not confirmed until 2004. The disappearance of many species applies mainly to taxa with higher habitat requirements.

In this faunistic work, the fauna of Scarabaeoidea from Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) is studied. In total, 23 species from 13 genera were collected and identified. Pleurophorus variolosus (KOLEN.) is a new record for the fauna of Iran.

The research was conducted in 2014 on the region of Przemyśl. Insects were collected using the floatation and baited trap methods. Based on the data from TRELLA (1937) the occurrence of 54 species of coprofagous Scarabaeoidea was determined. The current research confirmed the presence of 21 species of dung beetle from Geotrupidae and Scarabaeidae families. The disappearance of many species applies mainly to species with higher habitat requirements.
