The author of this study presents the since unknown theme in the Slovakian historiography about the celebration of the 1100th Anniversary from the death of Saint Cyril in 1969 on the Spišʼs Diocese. This celebration was preceded by Pope Paul VI ś publication of the apostolic letter Antiquae nobilitatis, which he issued on February 13, 1969. This act of the Pope was a consolation for Catholics in Czechoslovakia and was an invitation to a pilgrimage of the Catholics to Rome on February 14, 1969, which, at the initiative of the Pope, had never been seen in the history of the Slavs since the famous Slavic pilgrimage in 1881 during the pontificate of Leo XIII. The impetus for the Cyril Methodist celebrations in the Spiš Diocese was the Liturgy of the Word, celebrated in the Slovak Institute of St. Cyril and Methodius in Rome. This was the impetus for the creation of the publication Oslavujme hviezdy jasné, distributed before the pilgrimage of the relic of St. Cyril in Spiš Diocese. The pilgrimage of the relic of St. Cyril on the territory of the Diocese of Spiš was held from June 1, 1969 to February 14, 1970. The study also discusses the course of historical research of the relic of St. Cyril in Spišské Podhradie.
