The results of academic staff attitude survey run at the Adam Mickiewicz University are presented. The objective was to survey attitudes of the staff towards the development of the university repository. Guidelines for the development and management of the repository are provided, based on the analysis of the staff attitudes. Close attention is drawn to the issues of depositing and publishing items in the repository and the need for extensive promotion of the project in the scholarly community is identified
